I dont think commas have a place in todays society in fact lets just get rid of all punctuation and make all sentences run like this in a really really long way because everything has autocorrect now and we dont need to put anything in ourselves because the computer will do it for us and that is all thanks

So I've just google 'Oxford comma' to see what you're on about and now something makes a bit more sense to me.
I've been getting so cross with the commas before the 'ands' in some of DD's reading books from school (they keep coming up) - I really believed they'd messed up.
Well, now I know.

Nope not a fan and in fact I was taught at Primary school it is wrong about 40 years ago so I'm not adopting Americanisms now.

I do however like the semicolon very much as a way of seperating clauses in a bulleted list.

I love a nice comma or two. Interestingly (yawn) we interviewed a builder on the strength of his use of a semi colon. As far as I'm concerned they've got the job.
