Can anyone recommend lovely places to eat in North Norfolk? (extra points for dog friendly!)

We are very much looking forward to a couple of weeks in North Norfolk in July. It'll be a combination of me, DD12, DS9, DH (when he's not working), DDog, my DM and DF on various days.

We are staying in Burnham Market. We know the area well but until this year we have rarely eaten out. Any recommendations for lovely places to eat as a family, picnic spots and dog friendly places would be great. I also thought about taking DH for a special dinner at Morston Hall if we can get booked, but other suggestions for somewhere gorgeous would be great.

Many thanks (now keeping my fingers crossed no bubbled burst in the next three weeks....)

Morston Hall is lovely, as is the Neptune in Hunstanton. MH has a set 5ish course menu whereas The Neptune offers choices. We slightly preferred Neptune but would love to return to both/either! You need to book ASAP.

The Duck Inn in Stanhoe is nice and the garden/outside is dog friendly. We have some nice picnics in Holkham Hall grounds with the kids and dogs. Never had a bad meal at The Anchor in Morston or The Moorings in Blakeney.

The Hoste in Burnham Market itself is very nice.

Twenty9 in Burnham Market. Afternoon tea at the Blakeney hotel. Golden Fleece in Wells. Thornham deli café. Eric's fish and chips or pizza although the pizza we had take away from there was terrible but I choose to believe it was bad luck. Creake Abbey café

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/06/2021 00:45

The Dun Cow in Salthouse
The Golden Fleece in Wells
The Ship in Weybourne

MotherWol · 23/06/2021 01:55

Eric’s in Thornham (great pizzas & fish and chips)
French’s fish and chips at Wells
The Gin Trap in Ringstead

Socius in BM for the special meal with your husband. Amazing food.

Athinginitself · 23/06/2021 03:19

The Globe in wells was lovely, thought the golden fleece was awful but maybe they were just having a bad night.

Morton Hall was just fantastic when we ate and stayed there for our 10th anniversary.

For somewhere dog and child friendly the Jolly Sailors in Brancaster Staithe. It has a pizza oven and a large climbing frame in the beer garden and serves food all day.

Morston Hall

Labradabradorable · 23/06/2021 06:35

Thank you. Some great suggestions here. And a few places I’ve not heard of before.

My parents and Aunt also suggested The Anchor at Morston. It has quite a fan club!

I’m going to try to get into Morston Hall for dinner with DH. Haven’t been for years but remember it being excellent.

Following with interest

Blessex · 23/06/2021 06:51

If you are going in July you would need to book now now ! It is going to be busy. When I tried booking some places a couple of months ago they said they were booked up until October!

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 23/06/2021 06:55

The Crown at East Rudham. Been there a few times and the food is lovely. One time when we were in there William and Kate walked in and met up with friends for dinner!! Not sure about dog friendly though as we don't have one so you would have to check.

ILoveAnOwl · 23/06/2021 06:59

The Buck Arms at Blickling. It's right next to Blickling Hall which is a lovely NT house with nice walks so we often combine the two.

Clymene · 23/06/2021 07:04

Felbrigg which is NT has massive grounds and would be lovely to go for a picnic. Dog friendly.

myfuckingfreezer · 23/06/2021 07:07

You want the White Horse at Brancaster. Can't believe it's only been mentioned one! Google it and check out the views!

No29 in Burnham is really good. Amazing food and super service.

Mydogisagentleman · 23/06/2021 08:58

Briarfields.
Another vote for Eric’s too

Blessex · 23/06/2021 09:08

@myfuckingfreezer yes I love the white horse at brancaster too Smile. You could queue as well with no reservation a month or so ago.

Labradabradorable · 23/06/2021 11:50

Thanks so much for these ideas. Last time we ate at the White Horse was about four years ago, when we just rocked up for lunch. Clearly that's not the case this year! We got booked for 3pm on a Thursday, and that was pretty much all that was left. Can't wait though!
