Why do I have to book an appointment to discuss blood test

Is it likely just to see if I still have the symptoms but the blood results are fine?

Depends on what the blood tests were for and what the results are.

Ferritin or b12 out of range - it could be to discuss diet/periods, what to do/take & when to retest.
Thyroid-to inform you of results, treatment & what this means going forward.
CA125 -to discuss referral.

What did you have tested? Tbf if it was something pretty serious the Dr would have just called you not waited for you to book an appointment.
I hope all okay for you Flowers

I’ve never been asked to make an appointment so the gp could see if I still have symptoms.

It’s only ever been needed to tell me I need iron or whatever. So I’m presuming you must need something too.

Make the appointment. Even iron deficiency can be bad long term. Or it could be due to something else that’s related to what they found, like to ask you about periods to see if heavy periods are what’s causing iron deficiency or something (I’m just saying iron but it could be another deficiency, or indeed something else).

My gp receptionist phoned me recently to let me know my vit d was low and the dr wanted to arrange a call with me, 8 bloody days I waited for her just to say she would issue a prescription....

Don’t you have a GP login to view your results and see which one is out of range?

Unfortunately not I don’t have patient access.

It could be literally anything, with that range of tests, from a vitamin prescription, to lifestyle advice, to referral. Really hard to say.

I wouldn’t worry.

If it was anything serious, doctor would have called you already. Try not to worry, I am sure it won't be anything serious.

I’ve had lots of blood tests this year. I have a phone consultation after every round. I can see them online but they still need to follow up. Even if they’re normal, they can’t just leave you hanging.

You can ask for a print out of the results, then go and collect them.

I feel like if they are normal I would rather not waste an appointment as I know how hard pushed they are at the moment. Especially with the surgery a doctor down.

My doctor would leave a message with the receptionists to tell me my results were normal when I rang. Or a message to ask I make an appointment if they were not

I do not think he would waste his time or yours to tell you nothing.

There will be something to tell you. Please make the appointment.

I had 2 missed calls from doctor and a request to call back. My knees were knocking together when I called back only to be told my vitamin b12 levels were low and I would need injections so please don't assume the worst.

S/he will not have asked you to book an appointment to discuss normal results!

If it was urgent you’d have had a phone call from the GPby now.

So you can deduce that something in the blood results is abnormal but not super-serious.

If you want a spoiler, do as PP suggested and ask to pick up (or be sent) a copy of your results.

They won't ask you to.make an appointment to discuss normal results. Unless there's something else they need to do as a result of those results. They are probably really busy at the moment so the most helpful thing to do is just to follow their advice and book the appointment.
