The Iceland Christmas Ad has been banned due to being 'too political '.

It's actually about deforestation, and palm oil, and is a powerful and intriguing watch.

Iceland are going all out on social media to get the message across. I'm not sure how to link to it, but thought some of you may be interested.

I am appalled that this isn't deemed fit for public consumption.

It's a bloody good advert and might help get the message to people who are will otherwise be unreachable.

Its a brilliant ad. Such a shame that it has been banned but maybe the publicity that the banning gets will make others think a little bit more about the palm oil issue.

That must have been a very big investment for Iceland to create the advert. It's such a shame if it can't be used.

Unfortunately the people who will be interested in the publicity surrounding it are probably already aware of the palm oil issue anyway.

It's not really an ad. It was made for the Green Party originally but Iceland got permission to use it. It's a real shame that information like this is banned while consumerism which is also a political choice is promoted everywhere you look.

I'm going to show my DD this advert she'll love it and I think it's brilliant, educational, and the right mix of cute and engaging, and should not have been banned.

How sad a world we live in when a shop does something good and we are meant to not find out?

I will be making a visit to Iceland and putting my money where my mouth is, but I'm upset this will not be aired. I know I could be doing more about palm oil. I no longer but Nutella but don't think about it enough. This was a good reminder. Well done Iceland!

I’m disgusted that it has been banned.

It’s a powerful advert that clearly and eliqently sends a very important message.
There are way too many people that don’t understand the issue with palm oil.
If more people sit up and take notice more can be done to reduce the excessive use of the awful stuff the same way people are now acting to reduce plastic waste.

The animation was created a while ago by Greenpeace.

The reason it’s been banned is ‘apparently’ nothing to do with anything political but simply because Iceland didn’t create it, Greenpeace did, and it’s been banned because they think it ‘might’ not comply with some political ‘rules’, which Iceland can’t prove one way or the other because they didn’t create it, and the governing body have not vetted Greenpeace for their compliance towards these ‘rules’ so they have just banned it.

It basically just sound like yet another attempt to keep the issue with palm oil quiet.

I think it’s a brilliant advertisement and I’m happy that they’re at least able to put it out on social media.

However, I don’t think it’s relevant to Christmas.

The vast majority of adverts encourage you to be consumerist, to buy more stuff, thereby destroying the environment, apparently that's not political! But an advert that tells you to consider the environment and the impact of your purchases is somehow too political.

I know caprisun. But why are adverts from retailers selling products automatically "not political" and therefore subject to different standards. Retailers routinely try to influence government policy, and retailers influencing thousands of people to consume their palm oil products has a political impact on the world.

I think it’s probably gathered more media attention through being banned then it would ever on national tv... now everyone is talking about it so really it’s probably had more of an Impact!
