So, info below is hopefully helpful and links below are for some of the frequented websites from the page. If you know of a website that would be good to add please let me know .

Since it's so popular now there would just be too many links in the link post, and I'd go slightly unhinged attempting to get them all in, so I'm fine tuning and doing generic site links rather than specific product links (unless there's something so brilliant that consensus is to add it here). If there's a stupendous code that could do with adding on here let me know bold and big is really helpful for me . Hope you find it useful.

I have used Aliexpress quite a bit over the last few years. My tips/observations are:

1. Check reviews
   
2. Be wary of plastic toys. There have been concerns about toxic plastics from China, and I have binned plastic figures for having very unpleasant smells. I no longer buy any 'low-end' plastic items and only ever from sellers with lots of positive reviews
   
3. Aliexpress refund/complaints procedure is actually way more straightforward than eBay, and stacked in the buyer's favour
   
4. Beware of mains operated electricals, many of which are supplied without fused plugs. Always message the seller first if in doubt, don't rely on the photos
   
5. I don't trust dress up clothes to be flame retardant, although I don't believe this is UK law anyway?
   
6. Clothes can come up very small. Quality can be variable (excellent to awful). Photos are often of similar items, so take them with a pinch of salt and check the reviews.
   
7. Actually, all photos on Aliexpress should be taken with a pinch of salt. Again, check reviews (where buyers often post photos of the actual item received)
   
8. I wouldn't trust toys to meet UK safety standards and wouldn't buy anything that could pose a risk (e.g. Paint might not be safe for children to gum, there could be sharp edges/choking hazards, etc)
   
9. Lego alternatives don't tend to stick together as well as genuine Lego. Minifigures are still excellent value, but the odd one might benefit from a few drops of superglue.
   

10. Barbie and other doll clothes can be excellent value, but check reviews for fabric quality and finish
11. Stationery is generally excellent value, although paper quality can be lower than expected. Type 'kawaii' into stationery and be prepared to spend a fortune!

Quidco has £2.50 on subscriptions up to £5 at Buysubscriptions.com.

There are quite a few magazines on there which are £5 for 5 issues and would be good for people who are hard to buy for but have special interests; BBC History, BBC Focus (science and technology), Cycling, Gardening, Lonely Planet, Music. And the cashback brings that down to £2.50, so 50p an issue

It also gives £5 cashback for other subscriptions so would bring 6 months of Good Food Magazine down to £15.

Reviews say the tracking is a bit sporadic so recommend getting screenshots to support a claim if you have to make one, but as always, cashback is bonus if it comes through.

And remember to cancel the direct debit before it starts charging you after the 5 issues.

Right. I've been slack this year so next week is the week I start I earnest.
I've bought loads for the teen but not much for the 7 year old. Dp has nothing yet. Usually I'm all done for him by now.
I sorted my mum and sisters in the boots sale in Jan so just my dad to do,awkward bugger hates food gifts, has no hobbies and hates clothes.

Dps family all have a box office that I've been picking up a few a week from m and s they always have a box on offer for £3/4 this time of year.

I found these decorations on esty for £1 and all the children in the family will get one along with a family board game- still looking for good ones that span the ages.

It looks like asda have started doing their own version of American Girl dolls (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure these are new). I've just ordered this vet set for £30 which includes the doll and pets (the Our Generation one in Smyths is nearly £100 and that's not including the doll or pets)

I can't work out how to link to it on the app but there is a thread in gaming on board games that is worth a look.

My dc are 10, 8 and 5 and love monopoly but also labyrinth, Carcassonne, ticket to ride and exploding kittens. We have dixit too but that is less popular. The makers of exploding kittens have brought out a new game called bears vs babies which I've not seen yet but sounds fun.

hi i hope it is ok to post to ask for suggestions? ive never posted before but have been reading (and ordering) through the threads. I have to have an op prob in the next couple of weeks and will be off my feet for 6 weeks so need everything brought and wrapped by then.
have been doing well and apart from looking for a good price on a leap pad and a pink light up scooter my little girls are done, so are all family and friends with the exception of my husband and son.
husband likes motorbikes and food. doesn't drink, smoke or go out really. doesn't read and no time for tv/dvds. have done watches and wallets before but they are still fine. cant think of anything?
then the real problem is my son. he is 4 and one of a twin. suffers from gastro disorder, sleep disorder, eating disorder and probably spd,adhd,asd. he doesn't eat, read, draw, play etc so have no ideas whatever but need him to have things to open because he is aware enough to know his sisters are opening. have done outdoor toys for birthday so that isn't the way to go. asked family and friends for ideas and they had none as all he does is scream.
