Last minute nerves on curry for DD, reassurance please?!

Quickly did a chicken curry during naptime and now wondering if it will be ok. DD 7.5m, seems to like tasty cheeses, spag bol but this is first curry.
Just used onions, garlic and yellow peppers, the chicken (minced) and a bit of cumin, some tomato puree and lo-salt stock, oh and a bit of creamed coconut block. Have put some creme fraiche in at the end to make it more creamy.
Does this sound ok? Wondering now if trying her with cumin and garlic at same time is a good idea?!

I was in 12-15th June. I do remember a baby crying a lot in the night and was fairly sure it was the same one. I remember feeling sorry for the mum (and baby of course) and glad I was in my own room!

If you phone the number on the back of any BabyOrganix products they send you a brochure of recipes including a Butterbean and Carrot Korma the my DS loved !

oo, apart from my own food, Organix fruit pots are the staples of DD's food! I did register on the website but haven't heard anything so maybe I'll give them a ring - thanks!

farsi puri are kind of little biscuit things for with tea or chutney. The ones we have are cumin flavoured. They are made from rice flour dough, sperated into balls rolled out into small flat circles and then shallow fried.

Hornbag - like the idea of butterbean & carrot curry. Have been wanting to introduce butterbeans but hadn't thought of anything much to do with them. Might try it tomorrow!

Kelly - have you got a recipe for the farsi puri? DS is gluten intolerant, so we use a lot of rice flour!

Ive never made them, I get them when we go to tmeple. I found this online -

Preparation Time : 5 MINUTES
Cooking Time : 10 MINUTES
Serves / Makes : 20 PURIS

Ingredients

  1. 1 BOWL RICE FLOUR.
  2. Black pepper crushed.
  3. Vegetable ghee 1 tbsp.
  4. Salt to taste.
  5. Water for atta.
  6. Oil 2 tbsp.

Method

  1. Take a large plate,put rice flour in it.
  2. Add veg.ghee,crushed black pepper,& salt in it.
  3. Mix them well.
  4. Add enough water & make mideum atta.
  5. Make a 20 small balls out of it.
  6. Roll them nicely.
  7. Hit oil in one frying pan & fry them .
  8. Place all he puris in the tissue paper to remove excess oil.

I might try it out. I would add cumin, they should be about 2 inches round, and you need to make sure the oil is very hot before frying otherwise they will be hard.
atta means flour or dough, ghee is clarified butter, you could use melted butter or oil if you don't make ghee. They will keep for ages in an airtight container. And kids love them!

isn't gluten present in all flours? I have a cupboard full of different flours for diff indian food. It might be worth looking into more indian recipes for gluten free alternatives.

Thanks kelly - will give them a go No, gluten is only present in wheat / oat etc based flours. I've noticed that Indian food seems to be quite good for being gluten free. For example popadoms are made from lentil flour sometimes, so he can have them (does anybody ever make these at home do you think?) We've tried lentil flour, buckwheat flour (which doesn't contain wheat!), chickpea flour, and some others of which I only know the flour name (rather than what it's made of IYKWIM!). Our usual flour blend is rice, potato and tapioca flour I think! Certainly makes cooking interesting.

I don't know anyone who makes poppadoms at home, but we tend to get them from indian grocers, and you can buy fresh uncooked ones. They come in various flavours and the bendier they are the fresher. Then we just check them in the micro for a few secs. I'm not sure I would given them to a baby as they tend to be a bit sharp when they break, but the older kids like them.

I think chickpea flour is what we call gram flour? You can use that to make batter for pakoras and bhajia. Would be a great gluten free alternative to make chicken nuggets or fishfingers with!
