First time I’ve ever seen one. Crossing over the grass. Now hidden under some flowers. Do we leave it or do we need to rescue it? We have a dog and a cat if that makes any difference.

Please do keep the dog away they can cause nasty injuries and contrary to what a lot of peole think they can bite through the spikes.

My dog was going bezerk in the garden one night last spring. Finally figured out it was all over a massive hedgehog underneath the trampoline. He was terrified.

I took to feeding and watering every night after dogs last year. Haven’t sent so far this year, hope it’s ok!

We've got a hedgehog that's a regular visitor and just leave cat food and water out. I've never seen it in the daytime, only when it's dark. It's a very noisy eater though!

Aren't hedgehogs great? One rocked up in my garden last year about this time and stayed right through until late autumn. I used to leave him a little mix of the cat's wet and dry food. If yours is a regular, leaving out a water supply would be kind but they're not great at reaching up into things to drink, so I got ours a very shallow little, hedgehog friendly bowl.

Our resident garden one was quite "blond" looking and not very bright so we called him Donald.

One night I was treated to what I can only call hedgehog dogging. A different 2 hedgehogs were getting jiggy in the field outside my house and Donald was standing watching. Better than the telly 😂

I'd 2nd the person urging caution with dogs I had to take a hedgehog to the SSPCA years back who'd had its leg ripped off by a dog 😢

They are also very noisy shaggers! 😳
