I spend more time with other people's kids than my own

That's just fundamentally wrong.

I took dd2 (3) to a party yesterday and was so upset because I didn't know a single other mum. Why? Because I've never been able to take my youngest to preschool.

Dd1 (7) had her first netball match on Friday. She was the only team member not to have mummy watching.

I know the parents of the kids in my class more than the parents of my friends kids. I see the kids in my class more than I see my own.

This is all with being part time but being screwed over with working 3.5 days over 5.

I am happy now Swirling. Having my own children has helped hugely and time sorts things out too. Funnily having a full time working/teacher mum put me off that altogether and we've made big sacrifices for me to do the opposite. Like you said it's affected how I've chosen to live my life ... maybe not always for the best ... but I'm happy now with what I've chosen.

This is really making feel that I should quit. Obviously not just this thread, but on top everything else. I feel as if the way I work has become normalised but that's not the same as normal.
FlowersFlowers to ice cream and thank you swirling. Xx

I've applied for a new job Shock. 0.5 as 2.5 block days. I don't know if it's the right thing but I've winged the form off.

Good luck.

Your thread along with comments of other teachers in School has made me think about when I will quit oppose to if I will quit.

Now I've handed in my resignation I vow to never ever work every day as a teacher. I'm fortunate enough to be able to go right down to 0.5 part time but even then, I'm doubting staying in teaching at all. I'm seeing this interview as a crossroads.

Good luck with the interview user and I hope it works out for you.

I am definitely at the end of the road for teaching. I have had big discussions with my Head, HR and union rep and we are finally moving forward. Nothing is acrimonious, but they are supporting my claim for ill health retirement. I've had every adjustment under the sun - including some that are really quite 'above and beyond' normal but I can't fulfill the teacher standards any more. My condition is untreatable and degenerative and there's literally nothing that can be done.

It will be hard for TPS to justify that I am 'safe' as a teacher given my subject and experience, but they are notorious for rejecting claims despite their validity. This is going to be a long and horrid process.

Wish me luck too please!
