Anyone fancy a general dog chat thread?

BiteyDog is now almost 15 months old and it's about time we ditched the puppy survival thread for general chit chat but it's still nice to chat about our doggie dilemmas and days so if anyone wants to join me in wittering on saves BiteyDog having the listen to my incessant talking at him then welcome aboard.

How's all the dogs coping with the snow in the northern parts? I am sick of the rain and I guess fortunate enough that BiteyDog doesn't like it much either so apart from a 20 min ball run we are snuggled up in the house today.

It's snowing here and just about to head out.

My big boy (ddog1) turns 2 next Friday.

Just had to put child locks of the dog food cupboard - 4 kids and never needed them - but dDog2 (8 months) opens the cupboard and ddog1 eats entire boxes of treats and makes himself ill (just diahorrea all over house but still Confused)

rightsaid you made me laugh with the champagne. Better hope PestDog didn't develop a taste for it otherwise your pet shopping bills will increase with his new found expensive tastes Grin

2pups I only have the one, can't imagine having two of them working together to be naughty Grin. I am forever shoving BiteyDogs head out of the dishwasher when I try and stack the dishes as he's determine to lick all the leftovers Sad

rightsaid, cocodog is a social butterfly in that any guest is greeted with immense joy and affection. If any of our adult DC are home for a visit she will lie outside their bedroom door in the morning until they deign to get up, then dutifully outside the bathroom door, stare at them lovingly, lie at their feet even though they are not paying her much attention. With a houseful on Boxing Day she finally gave up at midnight, I carried her out to the garden where she was too tired to even wee. She trotted back inside and collapsed on her bed. Guess who was up early to let her out the next day...took her about a week to get over Christmas. I think she would be more of a cocktail loving gal though complete with swizzle sticks and little naff umbrellas😁

this is my new dog. I have had to wait nearly 70 years to have a dog of mine own. We collected her from the Rescue on Boxing Day. I love her to bits

@rightsaidfrederickII I had a Birthday house party last month and the dogs had vastly different reactions. Girldog is a social butterfly, she adores guests, does the rounds greeting everyone and schmoozing and if people don’t pay her enough attention, she will get on her back legs and do a little dance until people coo over her. She ended my birthday party being carried around my apartment by a male model someone brought with them.Hmm

Boydog is an anxious soul. He likes it when we have visitors, but a big house party was too much for him. I kept trying to put him upstairs, but he has TERRIBLE FOMO and had to be in the thick of things even though he wasn’t enjoying it. Eventually he just parked himself on his favorite friend’s lap and refused to get off, so we had to keep her stocked with food and booze.

Astrantia I am a total bore with BiteyDog so you are in good company so chat away. I figure that in RL I have had years of listening to other people talk about their children I can now bore them about my dog Grin

Billydog who will be two this summer destroyed two dog beds last night because dinner guests were not giving him full attention.

Boydog and PestDog are clearly kindred spirits. He's spent all day recovering from yesterday, and when I unwisely tried to take him out for a short walk in the rain he was hyper reactive - which is largely a fear / anxiety thing. Mind you, when you've been unconscious on a human bed for a near uninterrupted 23 hours (I wish I was joking) of course 11pm would be the perfect time to recover, demand a comfort walk (fair) and a game of fetch (no) Hmm

It's like parenting a toddler with jetlag and underlying ADHD. FML.

I am sure I don't remember dogs being such hard work when my parents had them Grin.

The latest thing with BiteyDog is trying to eat the garden plants because DH stops him by giving him treats so it's a vicious circle which I am trying to stop. So we just end up with a standoff between BiteyDog and me as I refuse to treat him so he stands there and attempts to eat the stuff whilst I try and ignore the attention seeking behaviour. If I drag him in the house he just scratches to go out again two seconds later Sad.

Hi, can I join in with tales of snowydog1 and 2. 2 gorgeous and highly neurotic boys who I wouldn’t be without. Examples of the neuroticness, snowydog1 is afraid of ladders light fittings, snowydog2 has (in the last month) developed a fear of the oven so every night while cooking dinner he hides behind the sofa.

@biteyshark, I am constantly pulling snowydog1 out of the dishwasher

snowy they are such strange creatures aren't they. BiteyDog hates anything flapping in the wind so if the curtain moves he goes into scared/semi attack mode Grin. Any outside noise he does a loud deep belly growl which is hilarious as it sounds so odd coming from a small cocker spaniel Grin

The growls, and any other noises they come out with, are so funny. Snowydog2 is the smallest of my dogs (he’s a collie beagle cross, snowydog1 is a springer lab cross) but he can sure out growl snowydog1

BiteyDog was shattered last night after daycare and slept soundly after dinner. Did that stop him at 2am doing a circuit in the bedroom with a toy being thrust in my face, no it didn't Shock

Snowydogs have a lovely covered heated pen so they sleep outside (unless it’s very bad weather) so thankfully I don’t have the problem of nighttime toys in the face, it’s bad enough sitting watching tv of an evening and snowydog1 using my legs as a rest for his chew toys, my poor legs end up getting a little chew too

Loving the champagne story. Mine would have serious dodgy tum/hangover from that! She can't even manage a cocktail sausage! Grin
