here Personally me wearing any of these outfits before i've slimmed to a size 4 is never going to happen.

I'm definately the right size of person for evans to sell to but this is not going on my wish list, the thought of wearing domino leggings or any leggings and what I would look like in them is horrid.

Sorry for the small rant but what do you think about it all?

Apart from the domino stuff (WTF?), the jumpsuit, and the face print dress (ugleeeeeee), I actually think it's quite cool. I guess you have to think about how you might wear some of it with other items - leggings, t-shirts, etc.

It is, admittedly, more "suitable", I think for the 16-35s, though IMHO it's confidence that determines the success of most clothes.

Thing is, I think Ditto's got the right attitude. A person can't hide the fact they're overweight: you can dress to flatter your figure, but you can't magic it away. Why not wear "statement" clothes? Skinny girls wear outlandish things all the time, and look cool; why shouldn't larger girls too? Why is a sense of humour or quirkiness not allowed if you're overweight?

I tend to admire a "look", rather than the shape of the person, IYSWIM. I'm always staring at people when I'm out, eyeing up their style, their flair, etc. How successful they are usually has little to do with their size.

Granted, the tall range fits fine, but they only do such a limited range in tall there is generally not a lot (if anything) I like.

Simply be does not inspire me either. I ordered from them once and found the clothes to be so cheap and flimsy, and so badly fitting that I have avoided them ever since.

Evans is vile. I generally buy from Simply Be but even then I have to trawl my way through loads of tat.

And Evans tall range is ok for tall people (well tallish) but the normal range definitely isn't. I can rarely buy jeans there - they only ever have the longer lengths in a size 30, not sure why... (Croydon store is fairly crap) I can do a really good rant about the fact they only do the shoes in EEE fittings, so despite the fact they actually do size 9's they're too bloody wide.

My word there is some hideous stuff on there!

Makes me determined to drop several dress sizes once this baby is born...Used to be a 24, but that was back when the '7' range at Evans was pretty good. Managed to get down to a 12 for a few years, but crept back up to a 16-18 before I got pregnant with DS1 and have been a 22 ever since . Hate that the only 'high street'shop available to me is so rubbish!

Evans is not designed for tall women at all sadly. I am 6ft1 and their trousers flap around my ankles, their cropped trousers barely reach past my knees and their knee-length shorts are very short shorts on me and thus look ridiculous...

And Beth Ditto is definately not tall, is she?

Those Domino leggings are not going to suit many people...

Marks and Spencer online sale in their plus range is my saving grace-I bulk buy from them every sale and there is some lovely stuff - none of it in store though!

I have two of these www.marisota.co.uk/productcache/FSP/BO8583/MK756ML.html.gz in differnt colours (though not so long on me as I am tall) and they are great for beach/office home. COtton lined, nice shape and can be dressed up of down. and cheap

some of them are Bitof Fun but sizes up to 30 in lots of stuff . I'm huge and it generally looks fine on me.

I think Evans design for really tall size 16-18 women (ie not fat at all). So shorter people of that size (ie me) just look bloody ridiculous

Im 23 but wouldnt wear any of that collection. I have bought stuff from Evan's before but am pretty picky about that store. It is a shame Minimarmite, they could have done sooo much better!

I just looked at the Marisota site, and the model is a size eight soaking wet.

it's like clothes makers have forgotton that NO ONE LIKED THE 80'S STYLE SENSE so there's no bloody point reviving it

i really hate all the clothes around htis year, haven't found a single redeeming item yet, bloody depressing!

OMG it is the type of stuff I was wearing as a teenager in the 80's!

MadreInglese · 09/07/2009 12:57

Is it designed by Beth Ditto or just inspired by her?

IMO she always looks like she's dragged herself away from an 80s themed pub crawl, but I do admire her individuality and couldn't-give-a-hoot attitude

It is all hideous. Absolutely hideous. But I have been bitterly disappointed with Evans for the past year or two. What is with these stupid harem trousers? And why are most trousers black, khaki, brown, beige or white?
And why do most tops have sequins and or ruffles on them? They do nothing for the larger breasted lady!! And cargo trousers with big pockets - they make legs look even wider!! And another pet hate - trousers with great big chunky buttons - two on the bum, some on the side pockets, some just for the hell of it (or so it seems) I don't want to look like I could be unbuttoned to nekkidness, and again, it makes the clothes look sooo chunky
I stick with their plain jeans now and the odd blouse.

The only good thing about the Evans range being so rubbish is that I am determined to slim myself out of having to be their customer!!

Those domino print leggings are grim . I guess it's aimed at the 'fat and proud' people, like Beth Ditto, but the vast majority of us want to hide the fact that we're fat, and make ourselves look slimmer.

everything would make you look bigger and broader .

the swirly cape is quite sweet and the purple top

but the dropped waists and sleeveless things are going to be sooooooooo unflattering

might wear the leggings under a dress, but hardly inspiring

tell me about it. i have 2 weddings to go to in august and i cannot find anything to wear. nothing looks right. its either dodgy 80's clubbing type stuff or scruffy casual stuff. ok for day wear but not for a wedding.

its driving me nuts

Someone on another thread put me on to yours clothing and I am a complete convert.

T-shirts and jeans that are cut for the larger lady (even my lardy arse)

So nice to feel comfortable in what I wear

(thanks Bonkerz!!)
