..handbag?
If you do, what kind?
Are thye worth it?
If you don't, would you get one if you could afford it, or if someone wanted to buy you one as a gift?

I have a Radley, was around £80, which I got for Christmas off me Ma last year. Don't use it now though. I have a Boots/Pampers Baby club changing bag.
I had a look at the Tula bags, VERY nice.
I'm afraid I don't like most of the handbags you've all linked to. But then I hate shoes. I like make-up though.

xx

I have a picture Radley bag which was about £200. Don't use it everyday though. Need to use it more.

I never let pens leak in my bags and rarely put them on a toilet floor.

My bags get too much of a battering for me to spend a lot. Lets face it, they all get put on toilet floors, and have pens leak in them, so whats the point?

I have a few, have a prada evening bag that I have had for about ten years and is still as good as new, Have a few LV that are about eight years old and still perfect. So I think they are worth the money as other cheaper bags have come and gone. Although I also have a russell and bromley bag that has lasted ten years.

Caitlin Moran article is very very funny

Shucks, maybe I'm going of the whole expensive handbag thing.. a bit..

'I have noticed that people no longer said 'handbag' or 'blouse' or 'moisteriser' without naming the make. Why?' I think it's because some of the brightest brains in the world are being piad lots and lots of money to convince us all it matters.

bet the fridge is slightly more useful. Still laughing at Cailtins potato comments.

I would love a Mulberry but bought a fridge instead, kind of puts it in prospective.

£50 is a weeks food for 5 people!
I reckon I must be missing part of my X chromosone or something .

Oh my gosh, I am on the quest for perfect bag (which dh doesn't get) but £50 is a LOT to me (thought my £25 Accessorize bag was an extravagant purchase)

But I haveto say lulumama, that marc jacobs one (faridah) is gorgeous. will haveto keep my eye out for a high street copy version.

Very funny article.

My most prized possession, as a very poor art student, was a beautiful Longchamp satchel my parents bought me.

It was completely fabulous and I loved it more than life itself.

I very generously let a boyfriend at the time borrow the bag [don't ask] and the feckin' eejit managed to leave it behind on a Dublin Bus.

Bag and boyfriend have not been since since.

I have a pale blue Lambertson Truex one that we bought in Sweden a few years ago for the bargain price of about £600. It is gorgeous and used to be used every day (pre-children).

hahahahaha, she is me

'?They will all be made of butter-soft leather,? I told myself, not really knowing what that meant. ?You can always tell the difference close up. People who come near me and feel the bag will know my true nature.? I went to Liberty and walked around, touching the handbags, waiting for the enchantment to overwhelm me. They all just felt like handbags. I did, however, see a silvery purse that I liked. For £225.'

I'm with Caitlin. Its just a bag. You put stuff in it. You are all being conned to part with large quantities of cash for a bag!!!

ok, what book have you all got? 'How to talk knowledgely about handbags'?
I've never heard of half this stuff. I must read the wrong magazines.

Lol Quattro, it goes to show: if someone wants to buy you a bag they should get you to choose it first my Grandad did a clever thing: he got his best friend to help him choose a nice hand-selected case of wine as a "gift for someone with excellent taste", then presented her with it

I don't much like the Miu Miu expat linked to, but I do like the Miu Miu patchwork in purpley hues which is similar.. here

I have mulberry one. Just one. My others are in the £100 - £120 range (oh and one from gap!)

that mui mui one is classic because it doesn't scream 'i'm a mui mui bag' in that certain sort of way that a white LV bag would advertise itself, IYKWIM.

i love the coat it's paired with .

Oh you are so right. I did gush, to my shame. I also thought "You have known me for 20 years and you have NEVER seen me carry anything like that". Maybe there was a message in there that I need to liven up my act. Which is of course true.

That Mui Mui bag though. That's lively yet tasteful, don't you think?
