Is there anything good in Next

I am heading to a Next tomorrow and will be the only place to have a peek before I head off on holiday. I don't atually need anything and am absolutly not normally a next person. I like a funky indie chick look and always thought Next was a bit old fashioned. Is there anything I need to look at while I am in there? Just had a quick look online and nothing stood out.

I used to like next but now the quality isn’t as good and I find their cloths a bit too mumsy. I buy basics from there such as jeans and vest tops but that’s about it. I did find a pair of dungarees in the sale 🤔.

@artesia I’m definitely on the bigger side. Lockdown weight and lack of exercise. The shorts are short without being too short of that makes sense.
I like to cover my belly as well so I do a kind of tuck to the side rather than to the front so that covers my belly but shows I do have a bit of a waist/shape.

Their linen viscose mix sleeveless dresses are great for apples.

I used to shop in Next 15 years ago when I first started working as it seemed everyone in my office got things from there. I don't think I have bought anything for myself in there in the past 5-7 years. Now it just reminds me of Styles by Susie and the tackiness of her all because she's still obsessed with that shop and make her clients look mumsy.

Dreadful fabrics and prints. Everything is cut strange and it all looks cheap and tacky. I don't mind some of their home range and I do like some of their children's clothes. But they need to seriously overhaul the team behind their women's wear because it is shockingly bad. I think the only thing keeping them afloat at this point is the concession items from other brands they sell online (as well as their retail space they let out to Costa, Virgin, etc)

I had a gift card to use there for over 3 years. I used it several times and ended up returning everything I got each time. Ended up getting a paper letter from them in the post stating that they noticed I had returned all of my items on several occasions, but then never asked for feedback as to why!!

In the end I ended up using the gift card to purchase a load of Ordinary skin care products.

They are great for school uniform. The selection (of everything) online is much better than in the shops. They also sell other brands online - Lipsy, FatFace, F&F for Tesco and others.

@Artesia
@Uramaki

Definitely second those Boy Shorts
I have the denim and the white ones and they just get nicer and softer the more they are worn/washed and the length is good and they don’t dig in your belly as they sit slightly below waist, best shorts I have ever had.

That cap sleeve t-shirt would be the answer to my (basics) prayers, but they don't have my size in any of the colours I like! 😩

Their jersey trousers are good but they're very long and a size bigger than they say

I like the socks and knickers oh and pjs. Never find much in store.

I’ve just bought this dress. 100% cotton.

No nasty back holes or random fussy stuff which is what Next is often like.

I use Next for easiness.
Delivered next day, usually, to my door.
The T-shirt’s used to be great but they’re very thin now, and they get little holes in the front.

@UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter - don't suppose you'd link to the shorts would you? None of mine fit me post lockdown, and I need some for holiday Blush[/quote]
Ah! thank you!

it's funny i used to buy clothes for th office in the late 90s, piled on weight and never went back.... until the end of last year. They do a lot of plus size now and I've bought a ton since then, blouses, t shirts, pj's, slippers, jeans, activewear.

Paid the £10 for shipping for a year and used it loads. Like the beauty boxes too.

I haven't seen anything nice in Next since I worked in an office in the 90s. I'm not sure if Ben then that the clothes were nice; they just did the job.
It baffles me how they survive

I tend to get basics from Next, I live in their jeans - they are the right cut, length and shape for me, and I find their vest tops to be great.

I don't really like shopping for clothes and I buy classic pieces when I do shop - for example I buy all my cashmere off ebay. Next can be a bit hit and miss for anything beyond basics.

I bought their linen summer dresses that were everywhere a few years ago (the sleeveless ones with the v front and back, with pockets) - they won't win any fashion awards but they are still going strong. I bought the black and the navy. I think there are the odd good quality item in there but generally they aren't better than Primark but are more expensive.

@TheFairyCaravan

These dresses are lovely.

I ordered two of these dresses, the arm holes are massive, really low cut and show off my bra band.

The white t-shirt linked above is fab though, I'm going to order it in some of the other colours.

I hadn't bought anything from Next for years, but I was in Oxford Street looking for shorts the other week and fell in love with a long dress that was in the window. They do seem to have some nice dresses.
They used to be sooooo much better quality. I bought a sheepskin jacket in a Next sale once.

Probably not. I haven't seen anything I've liked in there for about 10 years.
