Are these jeans flattering on me ?

Hi just got these 'farliegh' jeans from Asos.
Am so used to skinnies so thought I'd try something different but not sure if they're flattering or not . Prior to having dc3 I was so sure about my fashion sense but years of utter sleep deprivation and other issues have meant I've totally stopped bothering making an effort to even wear a nice pair of jeans so this is a big step for me .
Honest opinions plz . For the record am 5 foot tall.
Also what size / size range would you say I am ? My sister who dresses amazingly well always tells me I am going for the wrong sizes and that's part of the problem.

They definitely need pulling up I think ,makes them less bulky and baggy however they slip back down again so think I'll be returning them ! Topshop Joni jeans are often recommended but they're skinny aren't they ? I used to wear a lot of topshop jeans - all skinny mainly the Baxter's . I have some
Topshop Mom jeans bought in 2015 but found they got baggier over time and now I don't wear them .looks like skinnies are generally fit better on me I suppose .

I think the jeans look good on you. Maybe pull them up a bit & roll the cuffs.

The trousers are way too big.

They are high waisted so try pulling them up a bit and see if that makes any difference for you? FTR I like them the way you're wearing them.

I like the Farleighs I have two pairs myself, although mine are about ten sizes bigger than your! Grin

Hi Op I’m very similar figure & bit shorter than you, second river island & top shop they do petite lengths & Jamie jeans are really good fit.
I have bought jeans from zara & get them shortened.
Trousers I find a lot more difficult, still searching for chinos that fit.

Are they ? They look too long in the body for you, I’ve looked at the pic again and think that they maybe are designed to sit higher on the waist than you are wearing them, they look as though they should fit like like late 70s or early 80s jeans, but if you pulled them higher, then I think the waist would be too big possibly ? Meaning that perhaps you need one size smaller. I do think the overall style is nice on you, just the fit needs tweaking.

Scales down ? SCALED down obv. Bloody auto correct.

Jean shape does look great but size wise they a bit too long in the body and a bit too big generally. I think you need petite sizing, then everything will be scales down properly. You are probably a 6 or 8 petite.
The pale ones are just huge on you overall. Most ranges seem to do a petit option now. I’d try an 8 and then go down to a 6 if needed.

The white ones are at least 1 maybe even 2 sizes too big for you.

I really like the first pair of blue jeans on you though.

For straight styles (depending on your budget obviously) a tailor could easily shorten the length of trousers for you, it's worth it if you find a pair that fit well at the waist hips bum and you know you will wear them.

They look good. I have a pair of those jeans and am very pleased with them.

You look lovely and slim, why add bulk?

Sorry, haven’t had time to RTFT

I have a previous iteration of these M&S trousers in a short length. You'd probably need a 6 or 8.

BTW .. don't know if anyone else agrees but I find H&M trousers a terrible fit .. I'm a 10 .. but 10 too tight and 12 too big .. I love their tops and dresses but trousers a disaster ... I always get work trousers from Mango or Topshop ...

I'd say take a trip to Topshop for a pair of "Jamie" jeans ... and their black work trousers are fab too .. x

I find Zara very long in the leg for the likes of me unless I am missing something
It looks like hollister do lots of short leg jeans but they're either skinny / ripped effect which isn't the look am going for
Those gap ones look ideal thank you .

Just seen the white ones. Big no from me! Far too big and baggy and hiding your lovely figure. As pp said try Zara. I'd kill for a waistline like yours!

I like the cut but think they need to be pulled up a tiny bit more. Only problem is they look like they're already a bit short at the ankle so this would make it worse. I say try on a few more pairs until you find some that fit perfectly. Topshop to amazing 'mom' jeans!

Wow the jeans look great on you! The second trousers look too baggy sorry. Try a size smaller.

Bettyfood · 25/04/2018 05:23

Try Hollister, OP. They have loads of jeans for the more petite.

And please don't describe yourself as thick waisted when you fit in 26" waist jeans!

Or try gap city slim crop. I’m short (5’2) and they are not cropped, more like the perfect ankle length trouser! So you might need petite.

They come in loads of different colours so ignore the floral ones that link seems to default to!

Instead of the second pair you posted, you need Gap bi-stretch trousers which are often recommended on here. They're slimmer fitting and come in Petite too. Might have to size down a bit though.
