Going into London to somewhere pretty swanky for a work xmas lunch which will follow into the evening for drinks. They'll be plenty of walking so the open toed shoes shown with it are not really a sensible option. Should I dress it down like in the pic with a black top? here or a have a blouse which I can tuck in and pull out a bit which will hide my tum.......not sure what to go with for shoes, coat, jewellery. I don't usually wear clothes that are so sparkley!

ok fab, seqin skirt with black blouse it is - I only have one with buttons so that will have to do - the buttons are black though so well disguised. I won't un-tuck it completely but just pull it out a tiny bit to disguise any possible muffin top Wink

after advice on here , I've just bought the Phase Eight Elisa Top in black to wear with a silver sequin skirt. It's got a gathered up bit at the tummy area :)

That Pinterest pin is lovely- so a black blouse tucked in. Don't untuck it!

I think the skirt would look nice with a black blouse - not sure about one with buttons though. Maybe a silky top without buttons.
I agree with black trousers and white shirt being bland.

Thoughts on switching the white blouse for black?

black trousers (which I had planned to wear) just look and feel a bit bland for a Christmas do - plus with the white blouse I feel a bit like the waiting staff!

Think I'm going to have to try the skirt with some plain black tops and see how frumpy I look! I do have a black blazer I could wear.

I was going to wear brown shoes as the shirt is a gold / bronze sort of colour but not sure about them if it's with a black top - what do you think?

What about a black fitted jacket over the skirt? That way you hide your tummy...

Love the skirt and the blouse, but not together. Totally agree with others: plain black tee with the skirt or plain black trousers (7/8 length/cigarette style) with heels for the blouse. have a great time.

Keep the top then and pair with some smart, slim fit ankle grazing trousers, heels and a clutch?

I agree, plain top with that skirt. Doesn't need to be 'tight', but fitted would be better.

hmmm might have to rethink the skirt then - A tight top would expose all my plentiful wobbly bits.

Agree with nilby - wear with a crew neck the blouse is nice by itself but too 'fussy' to wear with that skirt. The skirt is so busy need to wear plain top.

I would keep accessories to a minimum. Maybe just a ring or bangle. Nothing OTT.

It's baggy, it's white, it's fussy and it won't match the skirt.

The skirt is sparkly, fitted and detailed and Imo you need a less fussy top. But it's only my opinion- wear what you like. Smile

That blouse would look great with blue jeans for a more causal look or black skinny cigarette trousers, with a clutch bag for your work do.

That blouse would be very wrong with that skirt.

I would go for a charcoal grey or black fine knit crack neck jumper. I would push the sleeves up, put my hair up. Do cat eye Flicky eye liner, and a red lip. If wear black 30 denier glossy tights and black heels. Coat would have to be a smart one.
Jewlerry- either Earings or necklace.
