Cetaphil, marvellous stuff

This simple, cheap cleanser has revolutionised my skin.
What was once, dry and oily, flaky, sore, rosacea, thread veins, lines, wrinkles, dull, is NOW soft, Dewey, supple, glowing and velvet to touch.

Can't believe it has taken me 40 years to find out about Cetaphil.
I have spent a fortune on eve lom, dermalogica,Estée Lauder etc etc etc what a waste of money when all My skin needed was a cheap bottle of basic cleanser.

I've been using cetaphil for some months now and highly recommend .
I use it to remove face/eye make up. Smooth on, wipe off then repeat
only this time I rinse off with water. Think I'm the only 58 year old to be
battling the signs of ageing AND breakouts.
I have used expensive cleansers in the past, but for my sensitive/troubled
skin this one's a keeper.

I so dear what using the solution to treat MRSA everyday will do if you have a real bug you can't shift? I hope we don't build up resistance, like overuse of antibiotics taken orally.

I found Cetaphil gave me blocked pores, and I ended up looking like I'd been people dashed. Took months for my skin to clear out, and I still have a lumpy bump on my forehead still from it.
I used the Cetaphil for oily combination skin when I lived in the US, and it worked much better, but it's not available in the UK.

Acne.org website and regimen was my saviour, with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide applied every night after washing and moisturising. I use a salicylic acid toner also- Clinique 3 or 4.

Hibiscrub is what they give you in hospital to shower in if you are MRSA positive!

Hi everyone. I have recently started working on Cetaphil through my work and it’s great to see so many positive comments. I have sensitive skin and use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. It really does miracles for dry sensitive skin.

Just to let you know, there will be a big stand at Westfield shopping centre, East London, this weekend (from 11am on Sat 11th and Sunday 12th) where you can collect free sample bottles of the cleanser and moisturiser and have a free skin consultation. There’ll also be a similar stand set up at Leicester High Cross shopping centre on the 18th and 19th October. Hope you find this useful! x

You can use Hibiscrub on pets too! My vet gave me a bottle to treat my cat's bite wounds after he got into a fight and a scab on his face became infected. I've used it several times (diluted) on bite wounds now and it really helps speed up the healing.

Also a hibiscrub fan, changed my skin so dramatically I don't have to wear foundation anymore.

I use mine day and night straight from the bottle wait 5 or so mins after rinsing off then apply moisturiser.

I like CeraVe too MooMinCow. It lasts forever. I can't use sodium lauryl sulphate, which Cetaphil contains. I also use plain old Baby wash occasionally. It's very mild.

Love Cetaphil cleanser. My local asda was selling the big bottles of the cleanser and moisturiser off for £1 each! Got about 10 years worth I always use the cleanser but only use the moisturiser if I have the odd breakout as I still swear by astral for everyday.

Thanks Deux and Coumarin, only just seen this thread again myself! I have been using the hibiscrub for a few days now, I've been putting it on wet skin so will try it on dry.

Behoove that's the one, it says it is for hands but that's in a hospital setting. I got it in Boots and was warned that the label instructs you to not let it get in contact with the brain

Love cetaphil moisturiser too! I think it's the best thing if you are prone to spots.

Blair sorry, only just seen this. I use it neat on cleansed dry skin. Rub it in until it goes 'white' then rinse off thoroughly (with eyes tightly shut etc). No need to leave it on as it's instant. Good luck.

I've tried it but prefer CeraVe. Non foaming, v. Gentle (works well with my Clarisonic too), though better if your skin is on the dryer side.

Is cetaphil a wipe off or a rinse off cleanser? I'm interested in trying it. Would I use the hibiscrub everyday too as a second wash or just occasionally? Do you still use a spot treatment after hibiscrub or does it work as one? BP has stopped working for me, need something new!

I used to use it religiously, it also saved my rosacea/sensitive skin.

Now I use Avene's gentle cleansing lotion, it is very similar but even more gentle and I think does not have parabens, like a lot of French skincare products. Just in case anyone looking for something similar.

Hi Blair. Only just coming back to this thread. I followed the suggestion on this blog here tinycattin.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/hibiscrub.html

So my hibiscrub is diluted in a pump bottle and I use it like a face wash but I put it on dry skin, gently rub it in a bit, then add a little bit of water, rub a bit more then rinse off. It doesn't really lather up. About once a week I put the hibiscrub onto dry skin and leave it on for a few minutes like a mask.

Coumarin and Deux I've just bought the Hibiscrub and was wondering how you apply it? Does it foam up or do you put it on a cotton pad? And only on the affected areas?

I used to use it until I looked at the ingredient list more closely. It may only have 8 ingredients but here they are: Aqua/water, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Butylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearyl Alcohol.
Proplylene Glycol, parabens and SLS in particular have been widely reported as being potential skin irritants.

Wow thanks for the hibiscrub recommendation. Will have to find some pronto! Mine has got better in recent months (having mirena fitted helped but I still get the odd one.
