Cetaphil, marvellous stuff

This simple, cheap cleanser has revolutionised my skin.
What was once, dry and oily, flaky, sore, rosacea, thread veins, lines, wrinkles, dull, is NOW soft, Dewey, supple, glowing and velvet to touch.

Can't believe it has taken me 40 years to find out about Cetaphil.
I have spent a fortune on eve lom, dermalogica,Estée Lauder etc etc etc what a waste of money when all My skin needed was a cheap bottle of basic cleanser.

Just had to share.

I love it too. I have sensitive skin which has developed extremely dry patches since having DD. It's the only thing that helps.

Another user here! I started using it after reading interviews with dermatologists in a magazine a while ago and almost all of them used Cetaphil on their own skin. I too have ditched 'high end' cleansers in favour of this.

My skin is prone to dryness but I also get the odd humdinger of a zit around mouth and jawline and they WILL NOT leave. They are really painful and when the fuckers finally start to subside they leave red marks that take months to fade. I also get smaller spots on my neck under my chin and ears.

Do you reckon it would shift those? If anyone has experience of it shifting what seen to be hormonal induced spots - I'm in!
Using the super drug hot cloth one at the mo which I do quite like.

Anyone with eczema and soap sensitivity using it?
DD1 is starting to have some acne but has eczema and any kind of soap make it much worse.
She only had water to wash until 6 months ago when the GP prescribe doublebase because the water in the UK makes her eczema worse too

Where to buy it and how much? I am willing to try but not if too expensive as if doesn't suit her it will end up in my cupboard full of unusable creams...

Wasabi try Hibiscrub (might be called hibiclens depending where you are). Stocked in most pharmacies. Not made for the face but was recommended by a derm when I had cystic acne and it was a miracle product as far as I'm concerned. Only use sparingly on areas that need it, keep it well away from your eyes, nose and inside mouth. But I swear it's amazing stuff.

Also very boring but cutting out sugar has stopped my hormonal acne from reoccurring. I have fruit still but no refined sugar or 'white' carbs.

Oh and still do your usual cleansing. Just slot the hibiscrub in between cleanser and moisturiser.

I've seen huge twin-pack bottles in Costco ( cannot remember the price but worth a look or get someone to look when they go, they are about 600ml x 2 for £20 ish )

Any good for oily/combination skin, do you think?

I'm using hibiscrub at 50% dilution (cooled boiled water) as a cleanser. I put it in a pump dispenser.

OMG that stuff is amazing. I'm not exagerating when I say my hormonal, lumpy acne has disappeared.

The day I started using it I had one of those hormonal lumps that had been brewing for a couple of weeks. The usual course of events would be for it to continue to brew then errupt when my period came. Then take weeks to heal. The day after using the hibiscrub, the lump had reduced by half. I couldn't beleive and thought it must be a fluke. Then All the other ones that were brewing just shrunk and disappeared over the course of a few days.

My skin has really cleared and healed. I've had a few spots but they were pimples and no bother and now I've had no new spots for a week.

Prior to this I was using La Roche Posay effaclar range.

I now use hibiscrub followed by LRP Effaclar Duo and then Cetaphil moisturiser.

Cetaphil and LRP are both non comedogenic ranges which means they do not clog pores so good products to use on acne prone skin.

One other thing I'm doing which has a significant effect on my mood, PMT, skin and breast tenderness is fishoils. I started these after using the hibiscrub for a week, so I know the hibiscrub was working. It is wonderful - so good for sensitive skin. Terrible for removing any type of makeup though, so I always find I have to use a separate makeup remover.

So if you use the Cetaphil cleanser then which moisturising cream do you use after?

Wow thanks for the hibiscrub recommendation. Will have to find some pronto! Mine has got better in recent months (having mirena fitted helped but I still get the odd one.

Bue - I was about to get some until you posted that! I'd use it without water but need it to shift foundation too.

I used to use it until I looked at the ingredient list more closely. It may only have 8 ingredients but here they are: Aqua/water, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Butylparaben, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearyl Alcohol.
Proplylene Glycol, parabens and SLS in particular have been widely reported as being potential skin irritants.

Also I've heard it's akin to putting wax on your skin.

I've just left my skin severely alone and it seems to be working.

Coumarin and Deux I've just bought the Hibiscrub and was wondering how you apply it? Does it foam up or do you put it on a cotton pad? And only on the affected areas?

So my hibiscrub is diluted in a pump bottle and I use it like a face wash but I put it on dry skin, gently rub it in a bit, then add a little bit of water, rub a bit more then rinse off. It doesn't really lather up. About once a week I put the hibiscrub onto dry skin and leave it on for a few minutes like a mask.

I used to use it religiously, it also saved my rosacea/sensitive skin.

Now I use Avene's gentle cleansing lotion, it is very similar but even more gentle and I think does not have parabens, like a lot of French skincare products. Just in case anyone looking for something similar.

Is cetaphil a wipe off or a rinse off cleanser? I'm interested in trying it. Would I use the hibiscrub everyday too as a second wash or just occasionally? Do you still use a spot treatment after hibiscrub or does it work as one? BP has stopped working for me, need something new!

I've tried it but prefer CeraVe. Non foaming, v. Gentle (works well with my Clarisonic too), though better if your skin is on the dryer side.

Blair sorry, only just seen this. I use it neat on cleansed dry skin. Rub it in until it goes 'white' then rinse off thoroughly (with eyes tightly shut etc). No need to leave it on as it's instant. Good luck.

Love cetaphil moisturiser too! I think it's the best thing if you are prone to spots.
