S&B jury, I present the perfect summer dress

Or a really good one anyway.
shirt dress from h&m
It's modal, feels really cool & comfy. Looks kinda preppy/boho. Has pockets!!

I bought it 3 days ago, have gotten loads of compliments & feel very comfy yet stylish.

Caveat #1 I have yet to launder it
Caveat #2 I do prefer my shoulders/upper arms covered, others may feel differently!

I paid 30, so I presume £25 or so...

I have ordered it plus a black jersey dress which was 7.99. I expect it to arrive around 2018 Grin

I had a look at it today but was too short on me and I wasn't that keen on the fabric - it felt quite stiff. Took me long enough to find it in there!

Oh that was shirt-dress-depressed eyes reading. I can see a tan would help

Fideliney read again! I'm nowhere near skinny. And I raise you your DD's with my GG's!

I would be a generous sz 14 (TG for vanity sizing). I do pin it just between the boobs, but I pin everything!

I like it for these reasons
I like the style
Nice fabric
Sleeves
Pockets
Fabric drapes well
Flattering as it skims over lumps rather than clings
Is not tent like.

I wear it in a breezy bare tanned legs and flat tan sandals-way.

I like the idea of getting to choose your prison outfit from H&M Grin!!

If I was in prison, I might consider it... other than that... no

Sorry that looks like a nightshirt to me!!
Mind you I am old and my legs look like a child has drawn on them with purple felt tip Sad

Sainsburys have had some nice dresses in recently. They sell out so fast though, plus no buying online. Why?

Report
LizzieMint · 17/06/2014 09:26

Can I present an alternative then? It's one of the ones I got in sainsburys yesterday, just trying to find a picture of it. It's knee length on me (5'10"), red with white spots, cap sleeve, tea dress kind of shape. I'm a size 16 with GG boobs and big hips and it fits and skims beautifully. And it's £18!

It's alright. The kind of thing I'd sling on after finishing the housework to head into the High Street in. I'm 5'8" and a size 10 with boobs so it would look ok but it's not all that.

It would look terrible on me -- no shape and what looks like an elasticated waist (even if it isn't). No thanks.

SorrelForbes · 17/06/2014 07:59

It looks nice and fits my criteria of having sleeves. However, shirt dresses are a no-no for me with my 30GGs.

Too short. I learned the hard way with a lovely GAP denim dress that you have to err on the side of caution with shirt dresses because of the gap at the bottom underneath the last button (unless faux opening on the skirt, can't see).

Ah I have just belatedly noticed that OP has crucial word 'skinny' in her NN. That explains a lot.

Fideliney · 17/06/2014 07:26

Khaki would be nice. Or chocolate. And a heavier fabric. Not bloody linen They are not easy to find. I need a dressmaker.

It is lovely.

Unfortunately shirt dresses always look like I've forgotten to get fully dressed in the morning. Or um after the night before...

Looks nice on model tho

Yes that's more like it - although so it should be for the price. I would look shite in that colour, mind.

Fideliney · 17/06/2014 07:18

Oh I've muddled them up, but there's some length and tailoring there.

Break the rules Flo Grin

Is this how much it costs to have actual seams?!

I'm with Fideliney. Would be very unflattering on me. I need a bit extra length as tall but need shaping not gathering over my vast hips

Think yourself lucky - I won't even be middle aged for much longer Grin

Too orange is the new black for me.
Glad you like it

With a closer look, it is good for casual wear. It would probably look lovely with glowing skin and pretty sandals.

But it's still not my perfect summer dress. I am a petite hourglass and that would utterly drown me.
