Is it wrong to even flick through a Lands End catalogue?

Just checking.
Or is it only worn by v fit but ancient well off elderly Americans on a world tour.
(Before anyone starts, there is no apostrophe. They got rid. Too complicated for clientele apparently.)

Damart not pretending to be nnaything it's not though is it?
There was a clinical need for that malarkey in times before central heating. I'm partial to a thermal vest which is suspiciously Damart-esque. Does the trick on long mountain walks.

The Land's End models envy the Per Una girls for their easy gig - some of the expressions in the catalogue, particularly in the turtle neck section, are so strained they almost look photoshopped on from a completely different woman.

BUT

if you pick the right down jacket, they're unbeatably warm, and very cheap in the end of season sales. I've got a parka and a hooded gilet, both with generous furry hoods, perfect for autumn-winter-spring dog walking. I don't have any myself, but I always imagine the cosy flannel pyjamas are deliciously toasty too, and cheaper than condoms for birth control purposes.

Oh dear. I have just accidentally ordered another swimsuit from LE, while looking at backpacks for dd. I like LE for basics that won't frighten the horses but would absolutely not buy anything from Cotton Traders (not least because everything is plastered with their hideous logo).

What strange twilight zone have I entered? Or has time gone back 20 odd years?
Maybe I will flick through this JML catalogue that fell through the letterbox... Smile

I just rather fancied their clog boots for knocking around in here

I was once invited to an ugly holiday sweater party. I really could have used that first one with the curtains and the turkey. I think it would have won the prize. Grin

Agree the stuff for kids is good. My DD has a summer dress that is good quality, soft, well-fitting and looks lovely which she has lived in this summer. Most things I have bought from there have ended up in the charity shop as they don't quite fit right/ don't look like they did in the picture etc although I would think their outdoor stuff is good.

I found myself liking their boiled wool coat in black or blue - nice simple design.

Also contemplating ordering some leopard skin courts in my never ending quest for shoes which don't blister my feet.

Their swimwear is brilliant, their kids clothes are fantastic but I've never bought clothing from them - I bet my DM would love it though!

If you order shoes note their sizing is off, they now say to order half size bigger. Why they don't just alter their US->UK mapping I don't know.
I've got some water shoes packaged up waiting to be returned. DH has some which he's found pretty good though.

Snowlie, yes that is nice and a lot cheaper than Boden's.
Can't beat a bit of boiled wool.

Actually, I'm going to slap my own wrist for being a snide cow. Land's End is no worse than 80% of what's currently in M&S, and there's an honesty about some of the clothes that is actually quite endearing. Like this Hermione Granger, English teacher, outfit

Agree Sophie, it is quite no nonsense.
Have ordered DD a pair of boots as she wanted a change from Boden ones //www.landsend.co.uk/Girls%27-Marley-Riding-Boots/pp/P_26068.html?cgid=5948 and am hoping for good things following comments on here.
Am also considering one of the down coats as they are longer than Boden's, cheaper and there is more colour choice. Am under no illusion that I will look like a Michelin man, but cannot do another winter without serious cocoonage.

Good for some basics. Swimwear that doesn't rise up your arse or shrink after the first swim, and parkas, agreed.
Very good quality.
Excellent refund policy. They will refund something if you've had it for 6 months.
But I'm an old rural living 'outdoorsy shortarse' thanks Grimma Grin. If you're under 35, and glamorous, don't listen to me.

Hawkshead is good for outdoorsy shortarses too - short length walking trousers and their fleeces fit me (probably not good for tall people).

Whispers... in the US LE have a range called Canvas, which is often more appealing. The colours are generally better, a bit more subtle, and some of the fabrics are good... I have bought cargoes and chinos, a linen hoody and a down gilet in their sales and been delighted, but then, I am outdoor woman in rural Cornwall!

OMG OMG I am at Gone Too Far. I have just remembered I have bought something from LE!!! I bought a pair of snow boots-type-things at their end of sale last spring. For almost £0. And I am delighted with them Blush. They are waterproof, enviably warm and suitably unstylish. Fecking catalogue addiction

I order tops and swimming costumes from them, very good quality and nicely cut. Nothing too exiting just good basic wear.

Go to Sports Direct or one of the high street outdoorsy shops for outdoorsy footwear for sure. You need to try on anything you're going to walk in.
