where is the best place to get decent leggings?

and don't say leggings are naff! with my corned beef legs, i cannot go bare legged in summer, so need something for the one month of the year in which i can't wear my 40 denier black opaque tights!

so, where is the best place to buy leggings that won't go that horrible thin way or go all wrinkly?

So i have the M&S ones, but find that they loose shape so quickly and then look like something only fit for in the house.

I've heard the Hush ones are good? The mint Velvet ones look good but sizing too big for me (i'm a 24/25 waist)

Is the American Apparel worth the money? and what is the benefit of the (mega) high waist?

I love my M & S ones. Lovely high waistband I can hoick up all the way over my fat stomach and feel secure in the knowledge it's not going to move. Feel comfy all day.

£24 is a lot but would be so very worth it if they stay put. Mind you my 'best pair' are a Long Tall Sally pair and they were about £22 (got zips on ankles) and they're not great..

I sell braces (run a charity shop) so am sorely tempted! But with big boobs, it would certainly be a comedy look! I've started buying Topshop highwaist jeans, which are great (Kristen range) but can't wear for work. I do a lot of lifting, carrying, unloading cars and vans, reaching up high etc I need to be comfy and flexible , it's the bane of my life, that and bra straps, which always fall down (slightly sloping shoulders)

I am of fabulous pear shape and trousers fall down on me also. And then, I often buy what feels like a perfect size trousers/jeans/leggings in the shops, 30 mins into wearing them, they're too big. What happens? When? How? Why?

I think it's time for me to give up on even trying to find trousers. What with pear and age, it probably ain't a good look.

how tall are you, Iambab? I'm 5 ft 9 but my legs are ridiculously out of proportion to my body (quite squat and booby on top, but really long and slim legs) It's not great as it sounds, as trousers are a nightmare

I can take the unworn pair back as they have tag on. Wonder if they'll let me return the worns I've worn for one day? I have receipt (John Lewis) Gutting, they are lovely style, love the ruching on ankles but no joke i've tried them all and these even worse staying up than Primark ones. Back to pricey and poor lasting Long Tall Sally for me, I guess. The only thing that works for me is high waisted jeans, but I can't wear them for work, and I need to be practical / comfy..no jeans allowed, skirts not practical

Will say again though. American apparel high waisted ones are the only ones that work fir me, although even they aren't as good as they used to be. I've got a pair about 3 years old and they're thicker than my newer ones.

They are so loose and slouchy they would make good lounge or sleep wear....but not for any activity where you are not lying or sitting! Am on feet all day, so it was pretty difficult for the 'test day' and I nearly bared my bum foodshopping after work as had no free hoiking up hand!

I am very leggy, I have a bit of a tum too, which I thought would've held them up but no such luck! Perhaps a big bump would ie for a v pregnant lady. Literally every two steps I was tugging them back up. I think it could be by body shape and length. Also the sizing not right for me....the M was really tight on me, so I purchased the L..but it's way too loose and slouchy on me. I think am just awkward! ah well, back to the drawing board... can you wear braces with leggings?!

No because when you can actually see the legs within rather then a block of colour the shape of the legs is far better looking, broken up by the contours and the visible knee etc, in the same way as stripes or pattens on clothing.

ryoko but surely most of us wear leggings in the same way we'd wear tights (with an arse covering tunic or dress) so any parsnip issues would be the same for both.

and leggings work much better than tights in warmish weather - ie not warm enough to go bare legged.

Oi, my legs are skinny and my arse is tiny, nothing remotely parsnip like, it's the belly that's the only problem! Leggings look fine as long as my top is long and not too close fitting on my midriff.

Tights however, make my legs look like a pair of shoelaces.

Honestly no one looks good in leggings stop kidding yourself, I've never seen any woman of any kind wearing them who didn't look like she had a pair of parsnips for legs and a massive arse.

Just get thick black or nude tights/stockings and be done with it.

Like the sheep I am, I read this thread and bought a pair of the MV ones yesterday.

Am wearing them now and they are v long and comfy but the waistband won't sit right. If I pull it up it sits about an inch below my bra but after a while it rolls over my flubbery belly. If its folded, it cuts my entire cake muffin top in half.
