what would you wear with this skirt?

I have this skirt but haven't worn it yet - planning to wear it for work (charity) so need to look reasonably smart. No idea what style/colour will go with it (which is why I've never worn it!)

TIA

Knomedeplum Wishywashy pastels suit some people, high contrasts suit others. Have a look here and see if one of these sounds like you.

Hmm, the temptation is always to stick black with something because it won't not go but I'd try to be a bit more creative. I'd go for grey cable knit or ribbed tights and a different coloured top. I think with tweed, it's important not to be too matchy-matchy or you just end up looking a bit of a parody. Just dig a few things out of the back of the wardrobe and try.

God I'm crap with colours - my initial thought was black but it just looked wrong.

Lala - so what has more contrast? Plum?

Judging from the photo, I don't think it is a very strong colour so with other pastels it could end up looking a bit wishy-washy. I'd wear it with something that has a bit more contrast.

Just having a look online, would a white top with a pale grey tank work? Or maybe pink (hard to judge the shade online though)

Teal, mid-grey, chocolate, agree with plum.

ok - some good ideas - but what colours would work with it do you think?

It's fairly neutral so would suit lots of casual styles: chunky roll neck, v-neck, cashmere wrap top. I don't think it would dress up that well so might not suit a blouse or anything shiny - good for casual occasions where you don't want to wear jeans, would look good with boots and ribbed wool tights.

A white shirt with a tank top perhaps.

Or a v neck.
Or a shirt with a plain jacket over.

Boots and tights.
