Teething can be a really stressful process for both baby and parent. Whether this is your first child and the upset that teething has caused your baby has come as a shock, or maybe you’ve helped several children through the journey and you know the best way to soothe their pain, Nurofen would like to hear your top tips for helping a teething baby through the process.

Here’s what Nurofen has to say: “Healthy kids are playful kids, but sometimes pain and illness can get in the way. Every child’s teething journey is different, and it can be hard to spot the signs and decide the right course of action to help your little one feel better. With this in mind, we’d like to learn more about the tips and tricks you use to help your child through teething pain and get back to feeling themselves.” *

Is your go-to for soothing your baby a special teething toy? Have your friends or family recommended a particular medication? Maybe your baby’s first few teeth came through with no discomfort or pain or perhaps it took a really long time for any teeth to appear at all? Did you find the perfect soother after reading advice on the internet? Or did you find that some extra cuddles got you and your baby through?

Share your teething journey on this thread and you will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).**

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Frozen fruit in weaning device if old enough. If not frozen formula or breast milk in a weaning device 'sucker'. Squeeze dummy to suck sterile water in and freeze to make a suckable popsickle essentially. And of course the easiest trick is nurofen once they are old enough to use it!

Good old water teethers cold from the fridge were invaluable, few of them rotating it worked great but I always had a calpol/nurofen on hand as sometimes the pain is just too much and these both worked perfectly for those moments

For our baby, wetting the corner of a muslin and freezing it so he can chew on it works really well. Plus granules, calpol, ibuprofen and cuddles.

Anbesol is my go to. Provides instant relief.

Anbesol liquid was great, frozen flannels and fridge teething toys did the trick sometimes - but like others, I went with actual painkillers- neurofen or calpol- when it was really bad - nothing else helped and tooth pain is awful bless them!!

To be honest with you the only thing that really helps is nurofen... Or really cold treats like yoghurt bark (natural yog, blended with a banana, chuck any other fruit in, I usually go blueberries and raspberries, and freeze). Cuddles also solves all :)

In all honesty i found no matter what suitable teething products i gave them, theyll find something else and chew that instead! So left them to it

My first son used to love chomping on a big wodge of cool celery when he was teething. But when the pain was very bad at night the only thing that would calm him down would be to watch some Fireman Sam with Daddy. Combined with some infant pain relief this would get him back to sleep.

My boy really suffers with teething so teething toys have never worked unfortunately. We give him Nurofen, frozen yoghurt bars to sook on and he really likes an apple to gnaw on and spit out Grin

I read online that babies don't have fevers with teething and also a tooth takes 4 days to come through..this is not the case with my boy and I think it's important for other parents to know what they read online is not the measure to compare what's happening with your baby. Trust your gut!

I never gave painkillers to my children when they were teething as I don't think it helped. I think that sometimes "teething " is actually tiredness.

Seconding Anbesol gel which is brilliant for instant relief.

My tips would be teething gel, anything really cold to numb (ice lollies) and distractions to take their mind off the pain.

The only things I tried was the homeopathic remedy Nelsons teething granules and teething rings/toys. I might have tried more had my DS suffered more. My 8 month old DD currently seems to be getting relief from ‘gnawing’ the side of the coffee table! 😂

It's a natural instinct of a parent to try and fix pain but I think for teething, Calpol / nurofen should not be a first line of defence. Half the time you don't really know what their gripe is. Imagine giving pain relief every time you think they are teething. They would be on it all the time for months on end!

Bikipegs, baby neurofen, lots of hugs and frozen fruit definitely helped my little one when teething!

Comfort feeding and sleeping with a comforter toy to suck on. Lots of chewy toys, some kept in fridge. DS also liked sucking on a clean cold flannel
