My daughter is in her final year of school (IB in Sweden) and is now making plans for university. Unfortunately her aspirations/expectations are completely out of sync with her capabilities. If I try to explain this, she completely explodes. She knows what she wants to do and that's all there is to it. This is becoming a daily war and I'm I'm at a loss as to how to handle this.
Basically she wants to go to university back in the UK and won't accept that this is impossible. There is no way she can manage it. She is very intelligent and very vocal and it's very easy for people to forget the seriousness of the difficulties she has. She falls into this category herself and will argue and bury each very serious issue under a mountain of words and then think it has gone away. Then get furious all over again when she finds out it hasn't.
The bottom line will be that she'll proceed with her plans, as she is doing filling out UCAS applications and such like. But there will come a point where she can proceed no further without my agreement (which I won't do) and then all hell will let loose.
