Site stuff

Is it me...or is the site running painfully slowly again?

threads are taking an age to load and I think it's the ads causing problems as I keep getting "internet explorer cannot display the web page" in the wee add boxes.

My typing is also appearing in the box very slowly.....tis like watching a ghost writer in action!

Is it just me?

One of the ad servers was doing a bit of infinite recursion (think "I don't know, ask your dad" and then dad saying "I don't know, ask your mum" and repeat forever). Some browsers (e.g. Safari, Internet Explorer) don't like that. Others (e.g. Firefox) coped better with it. We've requested it be removed and right now, for me, it seems much better. Do post if you're still having problems, but as requested before, please include which browser you're using in your post.

Apologies for the inconvenience.

I am not having too much probs with pages loading. BUT in some pages my typing seems to be stuttery/delayed (I mean it appearing on screen...not the quality of my finger movements . It isnot all pages cos my words are zipping along here.

The most recent page had a BAA ad at teh top. Noting at the side or bottom. This page (which is OK has A&L at the top, Ibis at the side and 3 ads at bottom which are "as easy as tea and biscuits" thetrainline.com and mini boden 10% off)

I am on IE something or other (the one with tabbed browsing)...with O2 as provider.

Firefox working fine at home now. At work I had to keep using task manager to shut down as it was locking the whole computer.

Had the same problem this afternoon, I use safari as my main browser and it kept hanging when I was on mumsnet at lunchtime, switched to Firefox and it seemed a lot better.

I was also seeing double posts on the same page and when I tried to refresh the page, I was redirected to the page where you sign up for mumsnet.

Don't know what adverts were on the pages at the time, sorry.

Using IE and all seems ok now. Flashy cursor thing has gone but I haven't posted yet, that usually sets it off.

It took an age (again) to come up with an ad that had a petrol pump on - other pages with different adds seem to be working much faster. Hasn't frozen up like yesterday yet though.

I'm on IE and Windows XP and never seem to have problems despite being on here far too much. However on ds1's laptop running IE and Vista tis painfully slow. I get loads of ads on his and none on mine so it's deffo an ad thing - I can't work out how to block them on his though
