I reported about six adverts that had been posted as events oon Richmond local a few days ago. There still there. Please can they be gone/moved to the appropriate section?

I accept I may be slightly over-invested in this...

I've reported the Red Cross thing in my local, and told MHQ that you had said it shouldn't be there Katie - let's see if your power extends to other locals Wink.

My local board (Southampton 9) is the same. Slimming World is on all year, as is the Red Cross thing, and the bumps and babes groups is not an event, it's an ongoing toddler group.

This is one of the reasons MN local is unused, it's a mess out there!

Can I just say the Richmond board is looking mighty fine?

Thank you.

I've just had a look at mine and it is similarly cluttered - quite a few adverts there too. Have reported them Grin

Should I report my post advertising my youth group and have it deleted? It's not a course it's just a safe place for teenagers to meet weekly. Is that against the rules?

If you loaded an event you can edit it/delete it. If it is not an event then it should be moved I think, BUT, if there's nothing else on and anyone can join at any time I don't have a problem with it myself.

I get cross when it's businesses putting on events for 2 years or loading courses that then sit on the events for weeks although no-one else can join the course.

I know MNHQ are redoing the local stuff to make it better. I'm hoping they'll have easier to use searches for meet-ups, clubs and groups and events. I think they will.

I'd leave the youth group. Presumably it's not a commercial endeavour and it's probably very useful to people. Although I might be tempted to put it up only periodically so people notice it.

It's council run, anyone (aged 13-19 and into music) can come at any time, and numbers dipped a bit. With things as they are, we need all the exposure we can get so we can keep our funding - loads of councils have been forced to close frontline services so we're lucky to still be open iyswim.

It wouldn't bother me and I get very narked about incorrect listings Grin

MNHQ have ignored my reporting Katie - perhaps saying "KatieMiddleton says this shouldn't be here" wasn't necessarily the right approach though Wink.

Glad I checked! I don't like breaking rules

Is there any other approach Midnight? Grin

Pidj - its not as if you're saying 'come along and give us £50 for our services' is it.... (which is what one of the ones on my board was doing)

PurplePidjin · 14/03/2012 16:26

Definitely not Shock 50p a week, subsidised tuck shop, make all the noise you want with no parents or neighbours to complain, and a bunch of sympathetic youth workers to moan to when your horribly unfair parents and teachers are on your case again about stupid trivial stuff like homework.

Oh, and we do gigs in pubs, an annual music festival and trips abroad all free/heavily subsidised Grin

Did a search for Richmond and events and maybe it's time to resurrect this thread because the Richmond board is looking very shabby and reports are not doing anything. PLEASE MNHQ can you train all the newbies on the difference between an event and a course/class? It's so annoying when you want to have a quick look for something to do on a wet day or the weekend and all the listings are blocked with classes spanning several weeks. Some of them aren't even in Richmond patch Hmm

Hi there, we do try and respond to every reported post/event/listing, sorry if we've missed any.

We have revamped our Local pages, which will be released veryyyy soon. It'll all look entirely different and hopefully a lot tidier! Grin

Thanks Kat but 3 of the first 4 sidebar event listings on Richmond are for courses that cannot be joined now. There are interesting events happening this week that can't be seen. These have been reported several times and are still there.

I made an off the cuff remark on a report and then reported again to clarify. The point was spectacularly missed and one poor lister has been made out to be a bit of a perv although the context of the word concerned was not the least bit rude just don't Google it because the rest of the interweb are more likely to be doing rude stuff than art

Can't wait for new local. Long over due. In the meantime can Richmond get tidied up please? When people go to the trouble of organising or posting events it would be nice to see them rather than some business posting yet another class with a 3 month listing period that blocks everything else.

Just to let you know we've moved the courses on the Events section into the Local Directory now Smile
