Vinted wants me to pay return postage for an item not as described - help please!

Hello clever mumsnetters. Can anyone please advise me on this situation? I bought a top on Vinted that when it arrived, was significantly not as described. It was listed as a well-known quality brand but the label was obscured in the photo (so herein lies my error I guess) so I took the listing’s word for it. But when it arrived I could tell before I’d even seen the label taking it out of the packet that it was clearly not a quality item. And indeed the label confirms it is not the well-known brand but an unknown brand of a ‘similar’ name. I have obviously contacted the seller and Vinted. And the seller has requested a return, but at my expense!! And Vinted is siding with the seller!! Why on earth should I be out of pocket to return it? I would never have purchased it in the first place! The seller is ignoring my requests for a pre-paid return label. And Vinted are saying that I need to pay to return it. I’ve just written back to them that in that case they are endorsing scam activity. The seller is a fraud. That’s not my fault surely! Can anyone offer any suggestions or help please, or do I just chalk this down to experience. It’s left such a bad taste in my mouth tho. How can Vinted possibly think this is acceptable?!!

Right, I guess that’s what I’ll have to do. I think vinted need to seriously review their policy tho as it’s just encouraging fraudulent activity and wasting everyone’s time!

I’m fast going off Vinted for similar reasons, people sell any old shit on there. I bought, admittedly it was only a fiver, a toddler hoody, looked really lovely and was described as being in excellent condition. When it came it had food stains all over the front and the cuffs had ingrained filth.

I took pictures for my own protection and left a very truthful feedback. The seller had her picture on her profile and was immaculate herself so I hope she thinks before selling scuddy items again.

Once you get a refund that silences the opportunity to give the seller feedback. As its in the small print T&Cs that you have to accept those conditions future you on Vinted has to ask the seller in your “I have an issue to cover the return postage as its not as described and your at the whim of their moral compass luckily the postage is often quite low and u get the postage there refunded . I try and remember to be forensic in studying a listing before purchase but its hard on a phone thumbnail another annoying disruption to the online resale is if you give a bad review they too can knock your score down and besmirch your profile rating . which if u buy and sell is not ideal so again that buys your silence as a buyer like the refund policy so that it appears all is well.
If you purchase from a pro seller you have a long return window and can create a return for any reason but again its up to the seller re postal refund for that return.

Yes this happened to me. I ordered a pair of kids pyjamas described as very good and they came with holes in the sleeves! I was furious I had to pay to send them back, it does seem so unfair.

I've stopped buying from there, I'm sick of buying things people have clearly shrunk in the wash! Just leave negative feedback OP and chalk it up to experience.
