New love interest expecting a baby with his ex

I met this guy online and have been seeing him for the past couple of months. I really like him and want to see what happens between us but he's just found out that his ex is 3 months pregnant with his baby. They already have two children together so this is their third.
He's reassured me that nothing is going on between his ex and him and I'd like to trust what he says as he hasn't given me a reason not to.
I chose to stick around because I really like him but the situation worries me. Am I right to try and see what happens between us or should I walk away and find someone else?

Evening folks. Thanks for your reports on this thread. Just a reminder that we really do prefer a report to troll hunting on the thread, please. We're going to temporarily close it while we have a word with the OP about what's going on here.

I'm going to be honest here, do you want maintenance payments for 3 young kids, it's not like they are late teens , harsh I know, but personally I wouldn't

Wait... wasn't there a thread like this the other day but from the pregnant woman's side? She had two kids with her ex, pregnant with 3rd and really wanted the ex back.

I've been in this exact situation. It didn't end well and I could have saved myself a lot of heartache.

Agree completely with PP - run as fast as you can.

@TheFaerieQueene has a valid point, I hope he hasn't allowed you to meet the children yet

So if you see him every weekend, when does he see his children?

I think you feel uneasy about it because it is a mess. I think you should find someone else.

If I was having a third baby, I would be mainly concerned about - financially supporting my family, access to my children, how to work out being separated like family events etc, scans, the birth, bonding with a new son or daughter whilst not in a relationship with the mother.

I couldnt cope being a girlfriend of someone doing that. If they were worth anything then a girlfriend really would not be a priority at this time.

Sounds way too complicated. He'll have three kids to look after and support.
He didn't waste much time finding you. It's too soon.
Run. Good luck x

They may not work as a couple but they shag well together!!
He will need to continue to be very very invested in her life. . Would you ever trust him?!

Think of christmas and birthdays and family occasions will you be ok with this in the long run..there will be intimate moments between them with the birth of thier new baby..id get out now before you get to attached..it will be less painfull Sad

A thread was on here yesterday from the ex's point of view. May not be the same people but they had been sleeping together regularly all through the new relationship.

I'm sure he does like you. You could be the perfect match.

But you've only just met and have no roots yet. He is having a baby with another woman. That isn't just bad news for your relationship in and of itself but if he's a decent man then he'll be attending scans, there at the birth and then right on past that. That's a massive commitment on his part. And no matter what he and his ex say about nothing going on currently I wonder whether bonding may take place over the next 6 months and beyond which draws them back together. Because they do have roots.

So why compromise when there are plenty of other decent men with no (or less complicated) ties?

You just don't know what you are getting into..its going to several years before everything settles.

He was online in a matter of weeks or earlier..if he did this to the mother of his 2 children he will do this to other women.

His past behaviour is likely to be an indicator to his future behaviour.
He must be a charmer..his ex fell for it.
It's massive red flags..can you see he's on his best behaviour?

Do you generally like any man who likes you?

That's a genuine question. Some women are happy with a man just on the basis that he likes them. Strive for something more OP
