I have literally in my whole life never met a single person arguing for English/National pride and flying St George/union jack flags on their lawn that wasn't a raging racist (outside of very short term displays for major international sport seasons or royal street parties).
The people who do its outspoken and offensive farge-ish views are the issue, if you can't tell that a certain type of person embodies that then unfortunately you are probably too close to that to see it as clearly as everyone else here clearly can.
What does flying the flag actually do for you?
I mean being English isn't an 'achievement' you personally made, it is literally just where you live. So whats to be proud off and why do you need everyone to know (especially you own country men who clearly know you live here).
Surely the only reason to do it because you think being an 'Englishman' is something above something else and you NEED people to know that?
I tend to display things I worked hard for for like awards, photos of my children and my degrees not a piece of cloth thats only linked to me by virtue of what land mass my mother was when I popped out of her.
Its not even like we should be proud of the shit show running of this country which we have little say in, votes rarely go the way you want and if government wanted to do something you deeply disagree with (like throw in with Palestine etc...) there is fuck all you could do to stop it.
Be proud of yourself not a flag, its not the same as say a family tartan etc... its something you have no control over that does not represent 'you' or even your heritage personally.
