Do you have a special mortgage and buildings insurance for your Grade 2 Listed house?

And did it cost you more etc? Or was it just from a more specialised company? Did it make it harder to get a mortgage on a Listed property?
Tia.

No. Standard mortgage from a high street bank, and major on-line insurance company. Just tick the listed box, as it affects the cost of rebuild.

But ours is a standard Georgian town house, so nothing special.

Standard mortgage, but found House Insurance slightly more difficult because it was almost impossible to put a rebuild value on the property.

So have unlimited cover from John Lewis Insurance. Premium is therefore slightly higher

We found insurance tricky too - comparison sites are hard to use for listed buildings.

We went through a broker in the end and saved £££.

No issues with the mortgage.

Standard mortgage but specialist Listed Buildings insurance because of the rebuild issue. We used a company called Lark who were always pretty good (though we never claimed in 10 yrs).

You could also try these people www.lpoc.co.uk/, who inter alia have a suppliers list.

We have never done anything to our house, but I came across them once at a property show and they seemed helpful.

High street mortgage and bog standard insurance company here too.

Geneticsbunny · 14/07/2018 14:27

We have a standard one but I have been warned about the issues of rebuild costs. I think the advice is to get a specialist to work out rebuild costs and then check you are covered.

NFU for buildings insurance on grade 2 listed next to a river ☺️. Fabulous and highly recommended

CutesyUserName · 14/07/2018 22:24

Another with NFU Mutual for Grade II in conservation area and World Heritage Site (not actually sure if those last two things add to insurance or not). We've had the most competitive quotes from NFU for three years running now.

Normal mortgage, specialist insurance from Lark via LPOC

Bluntness100 · 14/07/2018 22:31

Normal mortgage, insurance is also through the mortgage provider. Not because we had to, but because we were in a hurry, Had to speak to them though, it wasn't something you can do online. Once you say irs listed they want to speak to you.

It does cost more to insure.

Rosieposy4 · 14/07/2018 22:35

Third recommendation for NFU here

penguinsnpandas · 15/07/2018 02:07

Normal mortgage but specialist insurance as thatched. More expensive than average house, maybe double.

TowerRingInferno · 15/07/2018 09:46

Normal mortgage and normal insurance (from AXA) here (just with a high rebuild cost).

penguinsnpandas · 15/07/2018 11:16

Mortgage came through very fast, a couple of weeks or so.

Sunnyshores · 16/07/2018 15:30

Another recommendation for Lark via lpos. Is more expensive to insure G2 but Lark insurance includes alot of things we have normally added to standard policies on non G2.
