Is anyone else out there in their mid 40s & pregnant like me? Everyone else I know who is expecting seems to be in their 30s (which I was when I started having children) but now feel people think I'm a bit odd?! Have had some very strange comments when I've announced it to people.

Scan was great. I got very tearful when I saw little Splodges heartbeat. Nuchal fold was 1.1 and baby is measuring a few days ahead. Very very happy. Smile

I can really feel baby wriggeling now and am actually starting to enjoy being PG, looking forward to happy times ahead. I'm feeling so much better physicly. I've not been sick for days and have a sudden burst of energy Smile( I've packed and cleaned the flat ready for the move!! )

Hello rosie! Good luck with your scan tomorrow. Lovely to hear that you can feel your baby wriggling Grin.

I'm still in the alternatively feeling sick then starving stage. At least it's an indication that I'm actually pregnant... I'm glad your sickness is going - you're definitely giving me hope!

I've made my booking in appointment for next week and hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll get my 12 week scan. I think I'll be a lot happier once I've seen sprout again - assuming s/he is still growing etc and s/he should be Grin

Fingers crossed for a honey day tomorrow. x

Hi rosie, how did your scan go?

Report

Hi minky and all,

Scan on thursday was great. everything in right place and working the way it should. I was so relieved. next goal is to get to 26 weeks.
also found out she's a girl. Smile first thought..... thank god i don't have to go through whole Cercumsition mutalation thing!!! my good friend is still reduced to tears 4 years on when ever the topic comes up!! (her DS was done in a back room in a mosque in Cairo) also rules out all the really silly names DH has suggested.
then the disapointment of never having a son hit and i booed for a while. DH just said, 'can we try again????' I'm 43 FGS. this Pg was totally unplanned.....there will be NO more trying again!!! Confused

how is everyone?

Ooooo, congratulations rosie. Glad she's great (and doesn't need to be circumsised).

Still feeling sick here, but I just keep reminding myself it's a good thing Grin

Hi Rosie. Glad the scan was good. How lovely to have a girl Smile. I can understand not wanting to have a circumcision - I'm so glad my husband isn't of that idea. I once looked after a little boy that had had a bad one and was never going to be able to do the boy thing of comparing Sad. Although I have also looked after lots that were fine, I don't think I could bring myself to take the risk.

I'm ok, got a MW appointment tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure everything is fine. Getting fat and nearly killed myself cycling 5 miles yesterday, which was a bit depressing: my commute used to be 9 miles each way over Streatham/Brixton Hill - 5 flat miles should be a doddle Confused. Oh well.

Hi Cycle need i remind you your 24(?) week pregnant.... a 5 mile ride through London Hmm hats off to you! we went for 2 really long (and muddy) walks this weekend.... today i'm not getting off the bed! glad to hear your doing so well. Smile

the cercumcision was a done deal. DH could not see what all the fuss was about... to him (and all other muslims i've met) it's just like getting there jabs doneConfused I had already found a very nice (clean) private clinic here as i was not going to wait till he was 3 months and we go back to Egypt.
Now i just need to worry about him trying to Kill a sheep in the back garden!!! LOL.

It could be perfect timing rosie. I was thinking of cooking roast lamb this weekend.
And how lovely you're having a girl Smile
Everything going well with me. I've picked up a tummy bug so feeling a bit sorry for myself.

11 weeks tomorrow, so hoping that I'm heading for the non-sick, feeling glowy and energetic part of the pregnancy very soon Grin

cycle I'm impressed that you're cycling. Pilates is the most energetic thing I'm getting up to at the moment.

LOL at the sheep killing in the back garden...

hang on in there Minky do you have your scan next week??
expat Thanks for the tummy bug.

I was very brave and went to a Mums and Bumps coffee meet today! never been to anything like it before thought they were for odd people but as i know No-one here, i'm home on my own all day and starting to crave adult company i thought i'd give it a go. It was ok. only 3 of us turned up but it was really nice to sit, chat and have a good coffee.

Still waiting for the date of the scan... apparently they're very busy and often only give you a day's notice. Not great if you work and are trying to keep it quiet!!

Glad Mums & Bumps was fun (if only a very select group).

Thanks Stan, always great to hear from people who've been through it!

I'm all packed for the move (only 8 days to go) DH is being wonderful i really didn't realise just how much he wanted a child.

Hi Rosie, glad it's going so well Smile.

I have the glucose tolerance test tomorrow, so fingers crossed.
My baby seems to have become very active this week, which is nice, although I could do without the rib pain/back ache/achy bump that are keeping me awake. I'm on a mission to find some way of sitting or lying comfortably - I've invested in some V pillows and a gym ball, but nothing seems to work for long.

Hope you are all doing ok. Smile

Hello everyone. Glad everyone is doing well. I'm just over 15 weeks and would like to fast forward through the next 10 weeks because every day seems like a month. I had my first cervix check last week and all is good so hoping it stays that way.

Hello! Sounds like you're all doing well Grin. I'm still waiting for a scan date and hit 12 weeks today. The midwife said in passing that I may not get one as they're really booked up... then said she'd fax my forms over. I'm going to ring them today to ask if they know anything. In the meantime, I've found a local private clinic which will do a combined test for me, if the NHS fails to come through.

rosiedays · 20/03/2013 10:36

minky thats awful. you have the right to your scan!! busy or not your no less important than anyone else. stand your ground you shouldn't have to go private.
Sad cycle sorry to hear your having a tough time. hope things get better soon. I've started to get syatica type pain in my right hip, and cant lie on my left side as it feels like my bump skin is streching Confused I'm getting new pillows next week (for my new bed Grin) and am going to use the old ones to make some wedges. I so want to go home for a visit but can't chance the 4 hour drive.
(petrified i'd get stuck 1/2 way on M25 unable to go any further due to pain!!!)
DH also does not want me to go alone. so hoping he will offer to drive down over Easter.
expat my days are dragging too.... I set myself goals to get too.. 12 weeks, 20 weeks (that was LONG!!) now 26 weeks... then 32 weeks. also not thinking of Due date.... just due month.. when asked i say baby is due in july.

Dh is still finding the strangest names ever!! (and asking where he can get the sheep!!) he's changing so much, he's 30 and only just left his beach boy life in Egypt behind for an office job in UK. he's so happy about the baby, i had no idea how much the thought of never having a child was hurting him. (i've never felt broody, had my 1st 2 so young) making him so happy keeps me going. Smile
Thanks

Lovely that your dh is so happy about the baby rosie. I like it when men don't act cool about it.

Minky, I can't believe they might not fit you in for a scan. Outrageous that you might have to fork out for one. Hope the NHS comes through.

Good luck with the test Cyclecamper.
