Angels

There was a lady on Tv this morning talking about Angels but I can't remember her name? I know she's written books.

Has anyone had any experience of them? I'd love to feel that I had a guardian angel. She was saying that they aren't supposed to intervene but we need to ask for their help.

That sounds fantastic TC. Let us know how it goes.

neetsmassi · 20/07/2004 21:51

TC - has lottie been to an Angel workshop yet? How was it?

melsy · 20/07/2004 22:05

Oh wow Thomcat that sounds amazingly beautiful. We will have to talk about it on Friday when I meet you and Lottie.

Few "religious" concepts have caught the imagination quite so much as the angel. I wonder why it is such a popular idea, even amongst the most rational and agnostic, that we have guardian angels watching over us? I suspect it may be that many people find the idea of an omnipotent and omniscient God too overwhelming and threatening. God inevitably is associated with judgment and the "reward" of the afterlife, making many people feel uncomfortable and threatened.

Angels, on the other hand, are perceived not as judges but as helpers and protectors who watch over and care for us regardless of whether or not we deserve their care.

And yet... what a silly idea. We - most of us - intellectually accept the concept of a supernatural being beyond the rules of the universe, usually referred to as God. Yet we think that He needs assistants to do his work. What a contradiction!

Or is it...?

When our children fall and hurt themselves, who runs to their aid? God? A guardian angel? No, it is us, their parents, who protect and help them. Who was it who led the way to modern nursing in the hell of the Crimean War with a stern manner and a loving hand? An angel? No, it was ordinary human Florence Nightingale. Whose endless patience and integrity led to the peaceful downfall of a hateful regime and the end to the vile philosophy of apartheid? Not an angel, but Nelson Mandela, human.

So if you get a chance to be someone's angel, then take it and be a messenger of God. And if you feel like walking on air... that's just the wings kicking in.

Regards

hello all just wanted to tell you my angel experience. i saw an angel(i think it was but i didnt see any wing very faintly one day when i walked nto my bathroom-(id left ds playing downstairs)-as soon as i saw this 'thing' i thought of ds knew something was wrong and raced down to find i had stupidly left an oil burner lit on the windowsill.im convinced it was ds' guardian angel warning me of the danger. iwillbe eternally grateful(whatever it was!)
i totally believe and ask for there help all the time

tinytoes · 08/08/2004 22:04

tinytoes · 08/08/2004 22:05

sorry ive lost itagain!(must be bedtime)

Papillon · 09/08/2004 13:34

no worries tinytoes - these threads go quiet and then get added to. Like the astrology one.. that one was quiet for awhile and is very busy today!
Great to read your experiences - and wonderful that you listen and recognise the signals of angel helpers nearby

I was meant to visit my friend on Wednesday - but she phoned to say that her mum had just had a massive coronary and that my mate was going to be by her bedside and couldn't see me ( understandably ).
The doctors gave her a couple of hours and basically called the family in to "say their goodbyes".
As soon as I heard the news I asked my angels for them to watch over them all and ( inthe vain hope perhaps ) to make my mate's mum better.
She called me this morning to say that her Mum had made a FULL recovery and that one of the nurses said that it was truly a miracle ..... just coincidence ?? COuld be - but I remembered to thank my angels ... ( just in case )

nutcracker · 13/08/2004 22:09

I would love to think that my grandad was my guardian angel. I never met him as he died when my mom was expecting me, but everyone always says how he would have loved his first grandaugher sooo much, and would of spoilt me rotten.

My Ds is named after him

tinytoes · 13/08/2004 22:12

great news crystaltipstruly wonderful!

Crystaltips · 13/08/2004 22:13

Well nutcracker - I'd ask him for help and guidance and see what becomes of it .... put it this way - you've got NOTHING to lose and IMO it's a positive thing.

Hope you have success

Is there a certain that you invoke an angel?

learning · 26/02/2006 14:12

Sorry should have put that clearer, is there a specific manner in which invoke an angel? Can you ask someone who has passed to be your Guardian Angel and if so how do you know if they have accepted?

learning · 27/02/2006 07:55

just a bump

Simplyred · 27/02/2006 19:14

Hello!

I have always believed that my grandad is my guardian angel - he has alerted me of approaching danger several times.

fransmom · 28/02/2006 22:59

hi! i remember slipping over in an x's bathroom a few years ago. i wouldve fallen through the glass shower screen but something pushed me forwards, away from it. i always say thanx to whoever saved me from that fall as so many things have happened since. so yes, i do think we have guardian angels. sometimes you do have to ask for help but the lotto numbers are neer given because thats for selfish ends.Smile

I posted once last year i think about angels.we were visiting my parents' house and my husband had just parked the car. as i got out, i saw a little face looking at me and i quite casually went in and told my mum and dad that i'd just seen an angel! mum looked a little worried...dad - who suffers from dementia - just warned me not to say too much "as people start to think you're not all there"...! anyway, when we were leaving to go home that day, my youngest daughter started squealing that she'd lost her sygnet ring "down the hole in the car".this was a tiny crevice where the car seats were built into the car so i told hubbie to get it out for her as his fingers are slimmer than mine. anyway, he couldn't do it and he said he had heard a ping where he accidentally pushed it further down.he was adamant that we'd lost it for good. we managed to console her eventually and all was forgotten. however, the following morning, my hubbie said he was taking the dog and the kids to the beach-a rare thing on a sunday morning for my hubbie to get up so early but i was well aware that he and no one else had been near the car over night. i waved at them through the window and - all of a sudden - my hubbie stopped the car and my kids started shouting that her ring was there. not only had it been left on the car floor, it was sitting on a shiny five pence piece! my daughter beamed when i told her it must have been her angel i'd seen the following day! i know for a fact that it wasn't my hubbie who'd put it there as i was up before him that morning and to be honest he doesn't have the sort of imagination to do something like that! the following day, we got on the bus to go to school and, as the kids went to sit down, they started screaming that there was a "ticket" on my daughter's seat. this turned out to be a fiver which i handed to the driver who in turn gave it back to me and said, "you might aswell keep it love"!!! a couple of days later, i waved at an aunt of mine who lives quite close. i saw a small figure behind her and thought at first she had someone's kid with her. this figure waved at me then seemed to disappear. when i told my auntie-who's knocking on a bit herself-she didn't seem in the least bit surprised at what i told her!? maybe all these things are just figments of my imagination but i like to think there's someone watching over my children and hubbie, keeping them out of harms'way.

If I feel a presence nearby I also feel whether it feels good or bad. That is the essense of energy is its spirit or vice versa.

If you like the energy then maybe you can agree to get to know one another.

Guides and angels can have different ways. Sometimes a guide is negative. That is more about mindfulness rather than an Angel or comes to protect you. And I guess I am not familar with Angels really except from books.

My granny came to me at church after she died. Perhaps she is now my angel or least spirit companion even more than in life.

Xannie · 02/03/2006 12:57

Paps - how do you feel physically when a presence is near?

Papillon · 02/03/2006 14:36

Same as I do when a human is behind me

buffythenappyslayer · 02/03/2006 14:47

a few years ago we weredriving along on our way back from living in germany.we were near peterborough and the road was clear as it was 5am.i was reading a book, and it was like someone said in my ear 'check that the kids have their seatbelts on,your going to have an accident but you'll be ok'.i turned round and they were both fast asleep in their carseats.(they used to slip their arms out of the straps, but they were both still strapped in).i turned round to tell me dh that i was going loopy,as i did,we hit the central reservation, spun round in the road, rolled down an embankment and landed in a field.i couldnt believe it.i was pg with number 3,and was worried i would lose her.we were all ok,and after that i truely believe that there are guardian angels or spirit guides, whatever you want to call them!

Xannie · 02/03/2006 14:58

One morning I was driving to my mums to drop kids off before I went to work. DS was still in front seat carseat so he was younger than 6 months. An open-backed van drove past me, quite fast, and something flew off the back of the van and hit my windscreen - I was frightened and literally screamed out but (I think it was a big hammer type thing) it just literally bounced off my windscreen back onto the road. It didn't even scratch the windscreen. This all seemed to happen in slow motion and it was quite a few years ago. I like to believe my GA was looking out for me and my kids that morning.

It makes it very clear in the Bible that Angels are beings created by God - not people that have passed away.

When my friend's DD was about 4 she was playing out in the garden when she fell over. My friend saw her fall out of the kitchen window. It was quite a bad fall and she dashed outside to help her. By the time she got to her she was standing up, stopped crying and smiling. She said "Its OK mummy. A very nice man helped me and I feel much better now" My friend looked around. There was no-one there. There is a high fence all around the garden and the side gate was shut and locked. She was sure it must have been an Angel. :)
