bible reading for non Christian naming ceremony

We are having an informal naming day at home for DS2 (who is 16 months). DH and I are not Christian. We have selected three non religious readings for me and god/guideparents to read but would really like a bible reading for DH's own godfather to read. Although we are not Christian we do admire and share basic values of loving kindness, humility, responsibility etc etc (don't we all?) and we thought we might find some of those reflected really well in some Bible verses but so far have found nothing quite right. We sort of want something that couild give DS values to hold in his mind and heart as he grows up, in a neat verse.
Grateful for any suggestions!

How about Philipians ch4 v 8:

Finally, beloved,* whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

or: 1 Corinthians ch 4 v 1-6:

If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast,* but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Don't go by reports, by legends, by traditions, by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies, by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the thought, 'This contemplative is our teacher.' When you know for yourselves that, 'These qualities are skillful; these qualities are blameless; these qualities are praised by the wise; these qualities, when adopted & carried out, lead to welfare & to happiness' — then you should enter & remain in them.

This isn't from the Bible but makes sense to me.
