My son is due his single boosters and I tried to ring them but the number is no longer in use and their website is not working either.

My eldest son is still waiting for his mumps booster too which I have paid for so will be extremely cross if they have gone out of business.

Thanks

ATTENTION ALL -

We are a private clinic in Maidstone Kent and we offer t a similar service to that which failed at Direct Health 2000 Ltd. We cover child health, baby jabs and general medicine with our NHS GP's and Nurses. in addition we are developing our homeopathy treatments and we also have a beauty clinic U:. Our clinic is, large, relaxed and modern with parking opposite. We have gained quite a few DH2 clients who were unhappy with service, lost money on mumps vaccines that never materialised etc. Mumps will not return intil at least late 2010 to any private health provider in the UK. Our website is www.maidstonehealth.co.uk it is under re-construction at present so may dissappear from time to time but if you would like to discuss anything please give us a call. 01622 672000 Peter Burnham / Billie Flemming

Hello - haven't been on this thread for a while. I paid for the 3 jabs in Oct 07 by credit card (Halifax). My son had his measles and rubella but was waiting ages (like everyone else) for mumps. In the end I used the credit I had with DH2 to have a measles booster. They still owe me money as I paid upfront but the amount is minimal compared to you guys. However I was told by my credit card company that I may be able to get a refund. The letter has just been sent to them so I will let you know how I get on.

I really don't want my son to have the MMR so will get him to have his rubella booster (think there is a place in croydon) and worry about mumps more as he gets closer to 10years old. I have 10 month old twins so am in a quandry as to what to do. I think I will either continue with the single jabs and hope that another company is authorised to sell them in this country or go for the MMR (but once they are 18months as advised by an independent GP if I was to go that route.)

I just feel really annoyed that the choice for parents has been removed. I should imagine the government bodies aren't going to hurry through allowing someone else to supply to this country.

It isn't the government's fault there is no mumps vaccine - Merck own the licence and have stopped producing it. They may do again in the future but there is no guarantee.

My DS had single vaccines but not mumps but at least the clinic I used refunded me the money for the mumps part. This woman sounds like a total charlatan and I think you should all write to Watchdog.

Hi all,

I am a doctor who was also used by Sarah Dean between May 2009 and october 2009 to run her clinic, see her patients. She never told me she was going for insolvency and kept making excuses when it came to making payments. She called me at home and begged me inorder to run her clinics. She owes me £11000 and has done a runner inspite of asking for it on several occasions. She does not answer my calls now.I can sympathize with you all and request you all to come together to put a stop to this public enemy who is unethical and who continues this fraud. She has done this before and continues to work.
Please contact me ASAP.

I have just received the Liquidator's report on Direct Health 2000 Ltd (the company that went into liquidation before dh2uk Ltd!). Sarah Dean and her colleagues have gone down owing £1,387,683 - with no assets. That includes over half a million pounds owing to the Inland Revenue, and £230,000 owing to the vaccine provider Sepvax (no wonder you couldn't get vaccines!). There's another half million plus owed to a long list of creditors. That she was then able to start up in business again is incredible. Beware - it may happen again!

hello, i was just about to chase up my son's appointment and had a look on their website to come across this bad news. My ds will be six in a fortnight and I paid for him to have all his jabs with the mumps one still outstanding. I can't find a receipt for the money paid so I going to contact my bank to find out the date payment was made and to whom. Would somebody please be able to help and let me know if the payee would should up as Direct Health 2000 and how much it was - all i remember it was around £110 but if anybody has the exact amount then that would be easier, espcially since I am with Abbey and every bit of information would make it a bit easier, thank you.

I paid for my daughter to have her measels jab which was booked for 16 January. Unfortunately I didn't check the website as I assumed it would be ok and as I live on the isle of wight, I paid for the ferry, went to the hotel in Southampton and was told no-one had turned up. I am fuming that this woman has been able to take all our money and put our children at risk.

I don't want the MMR jab and am now dubious about other companies.

I am going to contact watchdog too.

Please can anyone advise me where I can get an immunity blood test done for my children who have had one mumps vaccine but not the booster. I live in the Leeds area. Rang my surgery and was told in no uncertain terms that they do not do the test and I could not pay for it to be done privately there either. Any information would be much appreciated. I too am a victim of Direct Health 2000 and am owed over £25o! Thanks so much for any help anyone can give me.

Sarah Dean is no longer running DH2 or direct health 2000, both these companies have gone into liquidation.

And Sarah Dean in the mean time is living the high life with our money, i paid for two vaccinations and still haven't received any money. They owe me £250.00 and i havent had responses to any letters or e-mails.

I have also been informed that Sarah Dean lives in Colpits wood Rd eltham and is driving an Audi, maybe she paid for it with money she stole from us. I am going to be contacting trading standards and i think everyone else should too.

We have the same issue and have now wriien to the liquyidators of DH2 (UK) Limited to see what response we get, not hopeful.

If the note from the liquidators is correct that Direct Health paid the phama company for the mumps vacinations and these were never supplied this may have other implications.

I know that like many other distressed parents we will not have a child not fully vacinated due to this. Could we get a class action for distress with a no win no fee case against the drug company who have not supplied the drug?

Just a thought i know the US are very stong on supporting things like this. It would be a case for distress caused rather than the cost of the vacination in my view.

The website statement is below:

Company Statement

Details of any major problem areas e.g. bad contracts, lost contracts, cash flow, competition, dh2uk failed due to many reasons. Its prime market was middle class families requiring the single component vaccines for measles mumps and rubella as opposed to the NHS provided combined vaccine of the MMR.

Since the economic decline and crisis that followed in 2009, many families have been umable to afford to continue their course with dh2uk and demand dropped quite markedly. Further more, the sole mumps vaccine manufacturer, Merck in the USA, as recent as October announced that it was no longer manufacturing the single vaccine for mumps. This led to an untenable situation for the company as many parents would be forced to have the MMR combined vaccine and uptake for the single vaccines would dwindle to nothing.

Merck have always made the single component mumps vaccine and have to make all three components of the MMR separately, but they are now not going to "bottle" the components separately. I believe this to be a deliberate ploy by Merck in an attempt to boost sales of their combined vaccine and to deny choice to parents who wish to have the vaccines administered separately.

It is also the wish of the Department of Health in this country to deny access to the single vaccines as they are insistent that they are not as effective as the combined vaccine when there is strong evidence to prove otherwise. The DOH and its leaders have threatened to resign if single vaccines became part of the vaccine schedule in this country and, I believe that the DOH had a lot to do with the decision of Merck not to make the mumps vaccine anymore. dh2uk had also asked on numerous occasions for an alternative vaccine to be imported under license from the MHRA, but was denied access to this vaccine on professed grounds of safety, even though the vaccine had a proven safety record and a better efficacy.

dh2uk failed due to inherent government body meddling, the economic climate and the loss of source of a major vaccine due to refusal of the pharmaceutical company to make it available, even though it had promised our supplier delivery on seven different occasions in 2009, even giving dates that were then not honoured. By the very nature of the pharmaceutical business, all vaccines have to be paid for in advance and. dh2uk had paid deposits to other suppliers which have not been returned.

The other major reason that dh2uk failed was due to the fact that it honoured outstanding vaccines to parents of the old company Direct Health 2000 Ltd, and it had also refunded some parents' money for mumps vaccine and carried over these "dues" at a financial loss to itself in the spirit of decency and the right thing to do.

The 'jabs' website has a list of clinics which still administer single vaccines (many of them NHS doctors practices that operate privately on a saturday).I would think they would also offer tests for mumps immunity too. I had my DSs tested for mumps immunity at my normal GP practice as they actually contracted mumps whilst waiting to have the vaccine from direct health. The test was a simple saliva swab and took a couple of seconds but was needed so that i could claim money back from direct health. Got the money back for that so i know i'm quite lucky but still out of pocket as Ds3 was due measles booster last saturday. went on website to check directions only to find it had gone into liquidation.

I seem to be in the same position as other people. My daughter has had the first 2 injections and is waiting on mumps. It is now time for her boosters and don't know what to do - Does anyone know if the mmr booster can be given after 2 single injections? I know this will not totally protect against mumps but am eager to get fully immunised against measles and rubella.

Am not holding out much hope for getting the mumps from DH2 or my money back and am unsure about starting now with another company.

What a nightmare after all the hours of research and sleepless nights i put into deciding to have separate vaccinations!!

Hello everyone! I have just tried calling DH2 but the number on my appointment card for my little girl's mumps booster to be administered at the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool on 21 November 2009, was obsolete so I tried 'googling' the company for a contact number and, to my horror, this thread came up. So, I called Neil Gibson at the Liquidators and he basically advised that if you paid by credit card you would have to apply for a refund from the card company. If you paid via direct debit then, unfortunatly, as there were no funds available we won't be receiving a refund. He did go on to say that he has filed a report into Sarah Dean's conduct and reported her to the relevant authorities although it is unlikely that any action will be taken due to the cost of funding the said action and that there is probably not enough funds to recouperate any losses in any event. It appears that Sarah Dean has been taking our hard earned cash with no realistic prospect of DH2 ever receiving the vaccine from Merck as they quite openly said that they would not be producing the single vaccines. In my eyes this is fraudulent.

However, it is comforting to see that Sarah Dean and her 44 year old husband, Paul, purchased their property - 13 Colepits Wood Road, Eltham, Greater London, SE9 2QJ - on 20 July 2007 for £375,000 with our money! Her husband is also a Director of Direct Health 2 Ltd which has a registered address of Clayfied Industrial Estate, Tickhill Road, Doncaster, DN4 8QG.

I think I may just write them a letter requesting my money back to see if they have a heart!

I'm in the same boat. My son had his measles and rubella vaccinations with Direct Health 2000 and then I paid £160.00 in advance for the Mumps vaccination. I was sent numerous appointments only to have them cancelled at the last minute because their Mumps suppliers had let them down.
I sent an email to chase it up and it came back "undeliverable". I couldn't believe it when it turned out they'd gone into liquidation!
I've wrote to the liquidators requesting my money back but they said that's highly unlikely.
I'm furious, but my main concern is that my little boy has still not had his first mumps vaccination and is now due for all his boosters. Does anyone know of any clinics in the Nort West area that have the Mumps vaccine?

Hi ladies

I've done loads of research into this as have my Dr's and, unfortunately, there lies no other alternative but to have the MMR vaccine whether it be the full jab or just the booster. It seems that the government have taken away our choice and wasted our money for us as what vaccines our children have received this far are null and void and will be overwritten with the MMR vaccine which we decided against giving to our children in the first place. There are no single mumps vaccines within the UK and there is no prospect of there being any.

Thanks Sarah Dean!

If you live close enough, I can hugely recommend the Breakspear clinic in Hemel Hempstead for single jabs. It is primarily an allergy clinic, treating kids and adults but they have a continuous supply of all the vaccines and we have had both our sons jabbed there with no problems.

They will also do an immune test if you require (for a fee)

Their website is here

Hi I am in the same position -I've paid lots of money and my little girls are still missing their mumps vaccination. I can't get through on the new numbers posted and the web site is hopeless too. Does any one have any idear how to contact the ex-DH2000 and / or if your contact with Watch Dog had any result? This is pretty awful as it is tantamount to stealing, and they seem able to just get away with it.

Hi
I was just wondering if any of you knew anything new about this. I am clearly very behind the times and was chasing them today for my dc's mumps jabs. I paid up front and have a reciept here for £466.00 That was for all boosters for my dd and mumps for my ds. So by my calculations I am due £233. Bastards
That is just great isn't it.

Has anyone had any joy getting their money back? We paid by credit card, but as it was a while ago I don't have that credit card anymore so no hope of getting my money back.
