To be honest, I find buggies for children over three years old a bit strange. Whenever I see one, I expect to find a baby or a small toddler, but instead, I often see a child cramped in with their legs almost hitting the ground. Especially these days, when there are more comfortable options available for carrying a child.
I think it’s more about the convenience for the mother than anything else. My daughter stopped using a buggy when she turned two, and it became a bit of a hassle—I had to carry the diaper bag, travel potty, and all the other essentials, plus pick her up when she got tired. Eventually, I got her a trike, which she used when I was heavily pregnant with my second child. Now, I use a buggy board when I’m out with the baby, and I make my daughter use it, but that’s mostly for my convenience.
We walk a lot—going on hikes and such—and my 3-year-old can walk quite far, probably because she’s so used to it.
I understand that some children might not enjoy walking as much, but I believe that using a buggy for older children can sometimes discourage them from walking as much or make them rely on it more.
