Should I have to pay?

My daughter does 1 day a week at nursery. Last week she developed a temperature 2 days after going. We also got a message from the nursery saying some virus was going around her room causing high temperatures, if our child has one she can't attend until she has a negative Covid test.
So we kept her home this week, and had to pay our child minder a full day as we both work.
Is it right we still have to pay the nursery for a full day, when she caught the virus/cold from there? Her temperature only lasted 1 day, but we could not get the test done, they won't accept the home tests, it has to be one you do postally.

High temperature is one of the Covid symptoms, so you have to have her tested. Anyone in the household should also self isolate until test result is negative, so first of all she shouldn't be with another childcare provider and really anyone in the household should not be at work or school either. How do people still not get this?

Your child needs testing for Covid and while you wait for the results your household has to isolate, not go to work and use a childminder.

I think the OP was referring to lateral flow test and doesn’t know you can do drive in/walk in PCR tests. It’s the only way I can make sense of what has happened.

Paying for sick days, even for illnesses contracted at nursery, is built into the pay structure. If we didn’t have to pay on those days, they would just have to charge much higher rates on the other days.

Your child had a temperature and ypu sent her to a childminder!!!???

Your whole family should have isolated until she had a negative pcr test.
Hiw could you not know this after a year.
And of course you have to pay, just like any other illness.

High temperature is a symptom of covid. I am actually shocked that a) you sent your sick child to child care and b) the childminder accepted a sick child. They are so small and vulnerable and your put your job 1st sick children need to be at home!

When we reported the symptoms to work, the boss said to come in & only not go to work if the test results were positive. We didn't think this was right, but the boss insisted this was correct procedure.

If anyone has Covid symptoms in the household everyone has to self isolate until you get a test result (or 10 days if you don't test). This has been in place for over a year and is very easy to find online.

This is YOUR responsibility to implement and not your manager.
