Hello!
I’m a Trainee Counselling Psychologist at the University of Roehampton, conducting a study for my doctoral thesis on mothers' experiences of motherhood while involved with the UK criminal justice system (CJS) in the past 10 years. This includes being or becoming a mother at any stage of CJS involvement, from arrest to probation (not only prison specifically).
If you were a mother, pregnant, or recently postpartum during your CJS involvement in the last 10 years, I’d love to hear your story!
What’s Involved:
- A 60-90 minute online interview via MS Teams
- Sharing your experiences of motherhood during your involvement with the CJS
- Discussing your hopes for future changes to better support mothers in similar situations
This research aims to promote better, more compassionate support for mothers and identify gaps or strengths in services that I hope to focus on as a future Counselling Psychologist.
There’s no obligation to participate, and you can withdraw from the study at any time before the thesis is completed without giving a reason.
If you're interested or have any questions, please get in touch—I’d love to hear from you!
