To pelt my cakes at this mum's head in the playground this afternoon? <fume>

The school are having a cake sale tomorrow and have BEGGED for donations of cakes. They have been Facebooking about how desperate they are all week as they want to make a dent in the £12,000 target needed for some new play equipment in the playground. One might think that flogging cakes at 30 pee each is not the way to make a dent but that's another thing...

I am pushed for time this week but I thought I could do some cornflake easter nests with some mini eggs on top as a quick alternative to baking and frosting two dozen fairy cakes. So I went out and bought the stuff (which I reckon cost more than they will get from the sales tbh) Then I replied to one of the FB begging messages saying "I will bring some cornflake easter nests tomorrow, will have about 40" Then one of the PTA wimmin replied "Ha ha! That's great but be prepared to take most of them home as they don't sell as well as real cakes."

Fuck. You. Bitch.

:(

Flowers for the most entertaining thread I have ever read!

I was moaning like fuck about the fact I have to go to Tesco later but am now really excited about the thought of cake punching & writing rude words in the 'erb section.

Brilliant thread but now I'm afraid to make Lemon Drizzle Cake. Whenever I make mine, it always goes before I have a chance to eat any!

Grin Clearly the CHAIR had NOT private messaged her saying "oh you MUST bring your lemon drizzle", then.

I make the BEST lemon drizzle. Light and fluffy and lemony, with syrup on top, with large sugar granules. And a light drizzle of icing when it has cooled.

Hear that LDC woman? Not soggy, but light and fluffy and everybody blardy loves it.

Ooh I wrote TITS in the herbs in Morrisons when I was with DD1. I was taught this noble pursuit by my dad, who loves to write swears in the aisles :)
I too have bought cornflake nest ingredients due to this thread. Now I have to suffer the pleasure of having the kids 'help' me...

dark chocolate - check
cornflakes - check
syrup - check
Mini eggs - NONE IN THE SHOP! And DH has the car. I will have to bribe DS to go to town on his bike to get some. The woman in the shop suggested topping them with jelly beans. JELLY BEANS?! What is the world coming to!

Aby just melt the chocolate very carefully in the microwave.
A half pound bar takes about 45 seconds - do it for 30 and have a look, prod it a bit with a wooden spoon, and see how melty it is. If it needs it, give it another 10 or 15 seconds.
I used to make huge batches of chocolate willies for prizes for the games at Ann Summers parties, and even have a large willy mould that will hold a full half pound of chocolate and make a willy of suitable size and density to bludgeon enemies cakes to death with [bugrin]

At 1300 I suggested to DH that I could have a go at a lemon drizzle cake as inspired by Justin's House Fizzle drizzle cake with DD1. I ended up MNetting instead and am now too terrified to make a LDC, possibly ever. Instead I will put the lemon to good use in a G&T.

I went to Waitrose this morning specifically to get the stuff. The girl on the checkout said "Rice Krispie cakes?" when she put my shopping (literally just chocolate, Rice Krispies, Mini Eggs) through.

I should have said, "Naaaah. Lemon drizzle."

I did not punch any cakes because the staff in Waitrose are always really nice to me.

Loving this thread. I am crap at baking, even cornflake cakes are beyond me. I do love a lemony lemon drizzle cake though..

Stopped off in Greggs for some hot cross buns earlier (sold out obviously) so bought some cornflake nests and lardy cake. Didnt punch cakes (all sensibly behind counter) Felt like punching the spotty sales chap though when he failed to give me my change

Dh didn't let me punch any cakes or write rude words in the herb section the po-faced killjoy. But he's bought me a 'normous easter egg, so I may have to forgive him.

I watched the GBBO Easter masterclass yesterday, and I have bought the ingredients to make hot cross bums. We will see how they turn out.

POINT OF ORDER

Guichet doesn't mean checkout. It means counter or ticket office.

Chez nous, we say avoir le cigare au bout des lèvres.

Went to the co-op today and they had these gigantic cup cakes, iced bright yellow and blue. Rilly, rilly bright. I wanted to punch them. I stood looking at them, then the woman behind the counter gave me serious stink eye till I scuttled off. She MNs. She knows
