Morning all

Flowers

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness once more

So the finish line is almost in sight. I see from the last thread that some of you have been struggling to stay on track - just three more weeks to go, so stay focused.

That 'it's only one piece of bread/one glass of beer' moment really isn't worth it. Been there, got the t-shirt.

If you're bored with the food - there are two things that could help you. Firstly, think back to the last time you were doing a low calorie/low fat diet - how awful was it to have to scavenge the shelves looking for something low calorie enough, and how often were you eating food that didn't actually taste that nice, but delivered only on the basis of being low calorie? Rice cakes that might as well be polystyrene ceiling tiles, for example!

And then go and read the recipe thread for some inspiration, and find something new to cook. There's nothing on there that's difficult to do.

I'd also say that I see a lot of you are trying to recreate things that are high carb - pizza or bread, for example. These things are very unlikely to be the same, or as nice, as the high carb versions. And all the time you're trying to recreate something you're missing, you're just reminding yourself that you're missing something!

So try not to do this, but focus on things that are beautifully low carb and that you can enjoy for their own taste and benefits.

Here's to a successful week for us all.

nameless you sound so tired. Please eat. Absolutely be kind to yourself.

c4 have you thought about posting on the relationships board in addition to here? There is so much support to be had on there and so much experience. It all sounds so hard.

I've got my fathead dough in the oven. It's the consistency of porridge rather than being dough like. No idea where i've gone wrong. I am predicting it will end up in the bin. We'll see. I was so looking forward to it. Anyone know where i wemt wrong? I didn't use pre-grated mozzarella, i bought a whole ball and shredded it in my food processor

Anyone stalling please don't give up. Here's my graph - on 14th May I weighed 144lb, on 14th June I was 143lb. I didn't gain at all and was pretty good all through this time. Today I'm 138lb, that's 5lb in 4 weeks compared to 1lb in a month. It works but some patience is needed. But if you are coping well and not suffering with hunger keep at it.

Cleareyes, flummoxed, cherries, dustmotes, I am now crying again, thank you for being so kind. My kids aren't sleepers and I'm 5.5 years in and I don't think I'll ever get over what sustained sleep deprivation has done to me physically, emotionally, and mentally. (DH more than pulls his weight by the way but he is away a lot with work, travelling to different time zones). Intellectually I know I am so incredibly fortunate in my wonderful life, but it doesn't feel like I'm living it at the moment.

cherries your mum sounds awesome. My mum has chronic fatigue so I kind of feel I can't burden her. The guilt of knowing what travelling 200 miles and sleeping badly will do is worse than never having help. My folks also have this thing that they assume I want to do it all on my own without help. That might have been the child version of me but adult me would like to be able to open up and ask for help sometimes.

C4 your story makes for painful and humbling reading so I can't begin to imagine what living it is like. Your daughter and other kids sound incredible and compassionate people. Well done you on raising such lovely people.

Jimminy I cross posted there but thank you too. It has got so bad that my 16-18 hour work days when I travel feel like a huge break and relaxing by comparison. Even with jet lag. I'm going to Asia in 5 weeks and food worries aside I am looking forward to uninterrupted sleep, despite the work pressures.

@SashaSashays

I wasn't carby as such but I ate a bit too much dark chocolate, dairy, nuts and berries at the weekend and I'm out of ketosis so that must be it.

Well of course you were being carby Grin

Dark chocolate, nuts and berries all have carbs, and can be quite a lot, depending on how much you had!

Just because things are on the allowed list in Bootcamp Light it doesn't mean you can eat them freely.

SO MUCH ON THE THREAD!

I will never remember who wrote what! On my phone so scrolling is hard.

Some amazing losses and NSVs this week. Stars for all the Namaste Bitches! KOKO everyone Smile

Clear the dresses look lovely, I agree with PP who suggested a little denim jacket that would sit on the waist. Have a fab time at the tennis!

Who posted the bunnies and cat pics? Cuties! DH won't let me expand the menagerie atm so we are sticking to DCat.

Nameless do seek help. Take some annual leave on a school/nursery day and just rest. Get a sleep consultant. Call in favours to get a few hours of downtime. And see your GP. When I had bad PND I would lie in bed awake, crying silently, in between feeds - anxiety insomnia is the worst. I am not saying you are depressed but there may be something short term that can help you.

C4 great quick meal ideas, thanks. I looked at the recipe thread a bit before my weekly shop order so have some ideas.

@Oliversmumsarmy

B. Water only 0carbs
L. Blackberries raspberries soya yogurt 14 carbs

Firstly, why are you counting carbs? We don't need to do that on Bootcamp! Secondly, I doubt very much that you will have had much fat here. It's more important to eat fat than count the carbs in this way!

D. Quorn peppered steaks, spinach, lidl do these jars of courgettes or peppers in a jar of oil. 5.5carbs for the whole jar. I have a tblespn of each and some mayo 11 carbs

Sounds OK, but Quorn is a processed food - not really good to eat a lot of that - and it doesn't sound like you're eating much of anything else!

Or I have

B.coffee, soya milk, 2 tspns xyletol 9carbs

Why the artificial sweeteners? We're really trying to avoid those! And that's a lot of carbs from just soya milk - how much are you drinking?

L as above 14 carb
D. Instead of the Quorn I have boiled eggs so 2eggs

^Eggs are better - but are you adding more fat to them?

I am starving

This is because

a) you're not eating enough, and
b) you're REALLY not eating enough fat

I'd also say that you should be getting your carbs from (fresh) vegetables and salad, and there isn't much of that going on.

I was ok when I had the cream and cheese but my ezema was awful and my skin was red and sore and dry and stiff.all over my face neck ears and back. It is just starting to clear up

I'm glad to hear that this is clearing up! But you need to replace the fat that you're not getting from cream and cheese - why not try introducing oil-based dressings on salad, and using butter in your cooking and on vegetables?

Oh and I have a glass of diet lemonade at night.
if that effects anything

Well it could! Again, it's using artificial sweeteners, which we're aiming to avoid on Bootcamp - and there is some suggestion that they can impede weight loss.

You also haven't mentioned any water. How much water are you drinking every day?

I know I haven't earned any comments here - I am in a selfish place and am not doing well with having time or headspace with others. But it feels good to let it out. There is literally no one I can talk to about this in my daily life.

You have just as much right to anyone else here to speak, ask for help and get support. It sounds like you're having a really tough time, so if it helps to vent here, then go right ahead Smile

It sounds to me like you need some intervention.

Have you considered controlled crying with your DC? I know people often don't like it, but it can do wonders (I have personal experience of it).

Do you have parents/relatives/friends who could take over for a couple of days to give you a break?

And I'd get yourself to the GP and get signed off from work for a while.

Oliversmummy it also might be the soya. Something to do with soy beans being inflammatory? When I replaced soy milk with almond milk, I stopped fluctuating madly & started consistently losing. It might be an idea?

There's only 1 way to tackle lack of sleep, Take it turns to sleep at a friends or Camp in the Garden. But Sleep.

IF you have nothing important you both must be awake for only 1 off you should be awake.

If you have to have a babysitter/family help 1 or 2 nights a week to entertain the begeeus out of the DC.

Our youngest had a "go forever and a day" when she had anything with caffeine in. Pop / Chocolate etc. We had to stop all treats and after 3 days she was sleeping all night and not screaming around at 90 miles an hour. Going out meant milk/water/piece of fruit or other substitute. That was 20 years ago and she still is effected by it and always has an espresso coffee before sports events. I jokingly
call it doping.

C4 See being super super nice to the skids will have a benefit. If they ever open there eyes to the difference between their BM and you they will love you for being so nice to their meanness. But they will only learn from someone they love more than their BM, which being in their 20's will probably mean an new outsider to point out the differences.

Good Luck remember the great days are always great because of the bad. You will be having some really really great days soon.

Sasha unless you have over consumed by accident 17500 calories or a couple of bricks in 2 days the 5lb is probably Water and solid storage.

The carbs are from the xyletol. It is plant based not an artificial sweetner.

I will try the almond milk. Never thought that soya would be bad for you.

The issue is as a vegetarian who cant eat wheat or dairy because it produces skin allergies then if you take out Quorn and soya it doesn't leave much else.

I will confess to not being a great fan of eggs either. I will eat them if I am hungry but really don't like omelettes or scrambled eggs. I tend to stick to the odd boiled egg or poached

BIWI, yes I know I was carby if being honest. I'm just trying to make myself feel better for resisting so many carby carbs.

In my house this weekend there were 4 different takeaways including chips and pizza, huge vats of melted dairy milk and then the resulting cornflake cakes, rhubarb crumble and my favourite wine.

As much as I get low carbing is a lifestyle change I don't know if I'm ever going to be someone who doesn't love me some carbs and wine. I was raised on potatoes, I think I might love them more than my mother.

In terms of earning support on the thread, I don't think thats the case. Surely we all must take what we need. Whether it is poo stories or emotional release, I thought the point was that all do what we need. No reason to feel guilty about that.

Clear- all three look nice but like navy dress best.
Incidentally- we went to Wimbledon on Tuesday and I managed to get a really nice meal in the grill next to court 11, they sold lots of burgers- I had a chicken breast burger, I just swapped chips for salad and asked for no bun. and then had strawberries and cream, yummy :)

Dust, grah, biwi, old... thank you Flowers. I have realised that I have been prioritising sleep over exercise and I know that makes me very low. I was a keen amateur athlete in my pre-children life. I obviously can't do much about that but will attempt to fit something in. Unfortunately there is no regular week for us, DH often works weekends while I work in the week, and we both need routine and structure.

I'm very on the attachment parenting end but I have tried CC with both kids in desparation. Failed spectacularly with DC1 but DC2 is perfectly capable of sleeping through - he just chooses to wake between 3-5am, on a good night. Bad night will be up at 11pm, 1am, 2am etc then up before 5. Anyway that is talk for another thread but I do really appreciate your thoughtful comments.

Food today was two boiled eggs and half a fathead pizza with lots of salad and oil. Tomorrow's mission - lots and lots of veg. I am really really proud that I haven't fallen face first into buttery toast or brioche or pastry or cake (DH has been buying plenty of it all) over the last few weeks of hellish exhaustion.

The issue is as a vegetarian who cant eat wheat or dairy because it produces skin allergies then if you take out Quorn and soya it doesn't leave much else.

As a vegetarian you should be eating more veg and salad then! You can also eat more nuts than non-veggies do on Bootcamp - that would also help you to increase your fat (as well as protein).

I will confess to not being a great fan of eggs either. I will eat them if I am hungry but really don't like omelettes or scrambled eggs. I tend to stick to the odd boiled egg or poached

Don't eat them if you don't like them - no point forcing yourself - but you do need a source of protein and fat in your diet.

And you haven't told me how much water you're drinking ...

I drink loads of water. Especially in this weather. I don't think that is the problem. I do drink a lot normally.
