Tell me about your wool duvet ?

Is it crinkly or rustly ? The one from IKEA is like sleeping in a crisp packet and I don’t like it 😂 and I want white as opposed to cream so as my white bedding still looks white .
I am assuming they aren’t all that noisy. Looking at the woolroom ones now.

Oh, and we've just taken delivery of a Devon mattress topper. Our lovely when new mattress isn't lovely, any more, and I'm waking up in agony all night.

My Devon duvet is only something like 7.5 tog and is pretty good for most of the year. I add an extra layer on the coldest nights and poke a leg out as needed. On very hot nights, all covers get kicked off, anyhow.

Devon duvet here. Fits perfectly into pure white king-size covers, doesn't crinkle, is nice and lightweight and the only difference in winter is needing to spend 5 minutes cuddling up to warm up quickly.

I had a Baavat medium weight king size that I sent back as I didn't get on with it. I found it too hot and it felt thin and not very cosy. I bought a new goose down king after sending it back.

We have devon duvet - love it - a little warm in summer but otherwise great. Not crinkly. Plus they made a special size for us so it's big enough! Love it.

I have a Baavet and a Soak and Sleep one. Baavet too hot and crinkles, the other is silent and the right temperature even though thin.

I stayed in a holiday cottage with a crisp packet wool duvet,it was horrible!!

Oddly the casing is 100% unbleached cotton. It’s crinkletastic. You do get used to it though

I have a wool duvet, can't remember where form but no crinkles at all. I would guess the crinkle is coming from the casing rather than the wool, and that the casing is not 100% cotton? Personally I'd never have a duvet that didn't have a 100% cotton casing.
I like the wool and find it v comfy, though heavy and a bit of a pain for changing given it's king size.

Yes that was what made me decide against silk. It wasn’t possible to be confident about the methods

Just consider how ethically (or not) the silk is produced if you go down that route.

Hadn’t thought of silk even though the duvet I’ve been using does actually have a small percentage of silk in it . It’s the touch of silk one from next I think , had it years. Not very good for night sweats though.
I’m guessing a pure silk would be quite expensive ?

Just to throw a spanner in the works, have you considered a silk duvet? All the breathable and temperature regulation your want from the wool, it drapes beautifully so you feel snuggled and not like your sleeping under a floating cloud like the puffy polyester sort, and it's super duper quiet no rustle at all. The trouble with achieving sleep perfection at home is you can't appreciate other people's guest beds quite as much. 😆

Mine is from Devon Duvets, I haven't noticed it making any noises and I adore it, having spent years sweltering under a synthetic one.

Mine is soak and sleep and only about a month old (all seasons and we’re only using the top bit atm)

It’s much better for temperature regulation but OMG its so noisy. You get used to it but for the first two nights neither of us slept a wink. It very nearly went back.

I recently bought some cushions from IKEA. We've had the same 'model' before and they were lovely. The new ones are sooo crinkly that I had to take them back. They've obviously changed their lining materials. Awful.

Devon duvets here- right size, right colour and lies just right

I have the light wool room one. I don't like heavy duvets so in winter, I add a blanket on top and flannelette sheets underneath. It doesn't smell sheepy - that wears off- and it doesn't make a crinkly noise.

I have a John Lewis one and it's soft and quiet.

It's the cotton covers that can be noisy. I have a Debenhams feels like down duvet with a cotton cover and it's like sleeping under a paper bag.

Watching this with interest. Saw one in John Lewis however out of stock. I have a synthetic one from M&S which is really warm in winter but getting a super king bed now.

My wool room one you can’t wash - but they do sell washable ones (which are more ££)
