How often do you change your pjs? And towels?

How often do you/dc change your pyjamas?
I normally change my top every night (although I've been told that's excessive) and my pj bottoms every 3-4 days - bearing in mind I DO wear knickers in bed which I think is relevant.

Also, while we're here, how often do you change your bath towels?
I change about once a week (used once a day).

weekly

I have visions of people who say they change pjs weekly of putting the same pair of knickers on every day and wash weekly as well. Both spend roughly the same amount of time on your backside.

But what's a crusty gusset here and there Grin

My pjs get changed once a week. Children's when they have spilt food down them, so sometimes every day sometimes they last 3 days.
Towels get washed once a week.
Cannot understand why towels or pjs would need to be clean on every day!

Oh and I wear pants in bed as well, if that matters!

But gamer, a lot of us who wear pyjamas for a week or whatever, like me and Smartie , also wear pants under them (was a whole thread on this very subject just a few weeks ago), so bums don't come into contact with pyjamas.

I can't believe people wash their jammies every day, blimey. I wash mine when they smell, so every 3-4 days or longer. Knickers always smell at the end of the day, so I think it is different, gamer. Don't think you were being bitchy, though, just funny....

No if I was being bitchy I would have left out the smiley.

Sometimes the pictures in my head are chuckle worthy ;)

Apologies if I misunderstood. I thought the phrase you used was an insult directed at those who'd answered the thread in good faith, not a humourous joke about the pictures in your head.

I probably do have a crusty gusset by gamer's obviously high standards, and I was not offended. Maybe you aren't familiar with her type of humour.

You could well be right, I'm not a big fan of crude humour (Misfits apart) and I hope Gamer accepts my apology.

Clean pjs every night.

Towels used twice then washed unless youngest has peed on his then its another fresh towel.

Two adults and two messy toddlers = an awful lot of washing

Vivacia I do move in terribly crude circles on the internet, though, so am totally desensitised. Grin. Possible the same for gamer ... don't know.

Does no one wear nightdresses anymore? Confused

I change my nightdress (because my legs get too hot in pj bottoms) when it feels manky - about 5 days. DS every other day. Bath towels once a week.

Report
bonzo77 · 01/10/2013 20:41

When they look or smell manky, or I notice that they do. So towels every 7-10 days, my nighty every 3-4 days, DS1's pjs once they have more than a smudge of breakfast on them, DS2's sleep suit ditto. DH wears his vest and pants from the day in bed, then they go in the wash. Hand towels every weekish, extra if guests. DS2 often poos in his towel Hmm or I get metanium on it, so every 2-3 days.

Oh, DS does not wear nightdresses. Grin he wears pjs!

I actually burst out laughing at the crusty gusset remark, it was obviously a funny haha remark and not a bitchiness intended remark.

I'm still trying to figure out why some people wear underwear to bed. It's good to go commando for a good few hours every night, it has health benefits. By all means wear a nightie but leave your fanjo to the air (unless is that time of the month obviously).

Report
whethergirl · 01/10/2013 21:45

I'm wondering if all this air-your-fanjo for health benefits is a bit of a wives tale? I've always worn knickers, day and night, and I'm not sure in what way would my fanjo be different if I aired it.

Well, I'm quite surprised by some of the responses and how regularly you wash your pjs/towels.

For those of you who wash your bath towels more than once a week, (and assuming, if you haven't already specified, that they are used daily), I'm interested to know if you change them because of hygiene reasons or because it just feels nice? Surely if a towel is only used to dry a clean body, then the towel is relatively clean?

On that note, I wonder why damp towels start smelling? I mean, they dry clean hands right? So what is it that makes them smell bad?

I'm less fussy about nightwear because I shower first thing in the morning anyway.

No worries there.. I do have one of those sense of humours and it does occasionally get me into trouble.

LOL I love these threads. I love how they are SO predictable with the same questions and answers Every Single Time. I actually think we should just 'sticky one' at the top of Good Housekeeping & Chat Grin

Bath towels - at least twice a week (hung up to dry, everyone has their own)
Hand towels - all daily
Bedding - at least twice a week (more in summer)
PJ's - rarely wear them, but after a single wear if I do
Children's PJ (I think) should be changed daily

I know you haven't asked (yet) but someone will:

Shower - at least once a day, mostly twice - occasionally more.

Bra - daily (or twice/3 times a day depending on routine/bra). Washed in the machine.

Tea towels after a single use (though rarely to dry dishes, but to lift things, polish glasses etc) and are all washed together, not with anything else. (They get dried then put in the 'tea towel wasing bag'.

Towels aren't 'that' clean though as they rub off flakes of body skin etc.
