How often do you change your pjs? And towels?

How often do you/dc change your pyjamas?
I normally change my top every night (although I've been told that's excessive) and my pj bottoms every 3-4 days - bearing in mind I DO wear knickers in bed which I think is relevant.

Also, while we're here, how often do you change your bath towels?
I change about once a week (used once a day).

I live in my pyjamas. I wear clothes for the few hours I'm out of the house, then bra and clothes get whipped off, comfy jammies put on the minute I walk through the door. I'm normally changed before dh has a chance to take his shoes off! Pjs get changed every other day as a result, and I've got about 4 pairs on rotation. Normally sleep in the nuddy so bed sheets and towels get changed quite frequently (leaky boobs and sweats post baby), probably about 3 times a week, hand towels changed pretty much daily as I have visits from dn who, at 2yo struggles to wash his hands properly (understandably), so whilst he's learning I try to change the towel regularly. I wrap baby's bed in a fresh muslin at night where his face is, and put him to sleep in a sleeping bag so can change his sheets once a week.

whethergirl I've recently gone from wearing knickers under PJs to none under PJ because I have started showering at night. I get less of that sort of activity now I do this.
My Pj's changed every few days
DS changed daily as if he manages not to wet them at night his first morning wee does and if they escape that then breakfast gets them
Sheets fortnightly. I'd love to do them weekly but we use cloth nappies so have quite a lot of washing
Towels at least once a week because I like having my own towel and OH just grabs what ever and I get a bit ragey and wash all the towels.

Norudeshitrequired I keep my vagina cool by not having a partner, so less body heat generated Grin

Seriously though, I could not go without knickers because...well...I get a lot of 'fluid activity' there.

Pyjamas every 3 days. I don't believe you need to change them every day in the same way that you do with knickers, because speaking graphically, you get more fluid activity in your gusset during the day than you do at night, assuming you sleep through and aren't up and down to the toilet. I also shower before bed, if I didn't do that, I'd probably be hanging them every other day.

Bedsheets once a week in cool weather, twice a week in very hot weather, though.

I think I'm totally repressed, I hate the thought of sleeping naked, or not wearing knickers at night. I remember when I had a catheter in after my c section, one of the things that upset me most was that I couldn't wear knickers Blush

All I'm saying is knickers, with pyjamas? I like to think my fanjo gets an airing at night!

I change hand towels daily. If there are four people in your house, I'd conservatively estimate they're using the towel five times a day (lets say 3 or 4 times after using the loo through the course of the day and then washing their hands before dinner for example) so thats 20 times a day that the towel is getting wet, then drying a bit, then getting wet. And although your hands are clean, there are dead skin cells, and the bacteria love to feast on them, so whilst I wouldn't consider myself a clean freak I think a daily change of the hand towel is the bare minimum I'd want. Nothing worse than drying your hands on a towel only to discover that your newly washed hands have a manky towel smell.

I do exactly the same as you, Daddypigsgusset (gross name, btw :o )

I line dry everything when I can, or tumble dry/clothes horse.

I see no-one has given me a good solid reason as to why I should be airing my fanjo.

I always thought that this was related to the risk of thrush increasing if your vagina is too warm and moist. The body gets hot during the night due to a combination of the duvet, being next to a partner and the body heat that is generated between two people so I would assume that going knicker less at night helps to keep the vagina cool and lessening the risk of thrush.
I would have thought that wearing knickers AND pj bottoms in bed creates too much heat and therefore creates the perfect breeding ground for an overload of thrush inducing bacteria. Maybe I'm wrong.
In any case, I like to sleep totally naked as I hate feeling restricted by garments in bed so whether the thrush thing is a myth or not it wouldn't affect me.

I LOVE a good washing thread!
Clean Pjs every night
Bedding one a week
Use Bath towels twice before washing. Pot towels every day, sometimes use two a day.
This is why I do 12 loads of washing a week isn't it?

I change bath towels probably after every second use, but its not a rigid routine. Toddler has clean pjs every night. 7 year old has shower every second day and clean pjs after every shower. DH doesn't wear pjs. I usually wear pjs for two nights then change them (shower every day though!).

Oh, and everything is dried on the line. I have a Hills hoist in the middle of the yard for summer and a huge collapsible one under the veranda for winter.

Honestly? They both get changed as and when.
Usually when I look at them and think "Hmm. I've been using you for an awfully long time."
Ditto goes for bedsheets, jeans, bras and the bathmat.

Same goes for the kiddo.

Showers happen every day (and twice in summer because forty degrees c is disgusting) and I do not approve of seams in my fanjo so knickers are always worn. My precious Fanj is aired out while I'm digging in my wardrobe after a shower.

I change pjs after 2 nights, dd after one night. Bath towels are used 2 or 3 times than changed. Hand towels are changed after 2 days.

I dry everything on the line or in the drier. I tend to hang my tops up straight from the machine to avoid shrinking.

This isn't so much fascinating for me as it is just a way of gauging my own standards. I was brought up by my dad who had pretty low standards (always busy working), sometimes we had a cleaner, sometimes we didn't, but I do remember things that when I look back now, I think eww! And then as an adult, I had OCD and went over the top with everything. The OCD is now well under control and I sometimes need to check with other people to make sure my standards are quite normal! I do remember reading other threads like this, but couldn't remember the outcome, but now having started this one, I think opinions were so varied your really none the wiser!

PatchworkPerson I can assure you no-one drys their arse on my bath towel. And I don't dry my face on my bath towel, I have a special face towel for that. AND I have a special system: I dry the top half of my body with the right side of the towel, and the lower half with the other side.

I don't have a tumble drier so to wash bedsheets and towels any more than once a week would be practically impossible.

I do think a lot depends on how many people are in the household too. I don't change the hand towel every day but then it's only me and DS that use it.

And kitchen towels...it depends what you do with them. I have seen people use them like a multi purpose cloth, one minute wiping up spillages, next minute wiping greasy hands, and then the worktop etc. I don't use my teatowels an awful lot (dishes are left to dry) but I do use an awful lot of kitchen towel, yeh I know, wasteful and all that.

TobyLerone the reason I don't change my pjs every night (although, when you put it like that, I am now re-considering!) because I shower every morning anyway, so it doesn't seem necessary?

I see no-one has given me a good solid reason as to why I should be airing my fanjo.
