London Marathon 2015?

Has anyone heard that they have a place? My dh and I both applied this year through the ballot. My dh got a rejection today but I haven't heard anything. I'm anxious this means I may have got a place and will therefore actually have to run 26 miles.

Hi everyone,

I got a ballot place this year, am excited and also terrified of doing it! I had a baby in July so training has been pretty slow, barely managing a 5K at the moment :-(

How is everyone else doing?

If you didn't get a place, but still want to run; the last few Team Shelter places in the London Marathon are up for grabs: england.shelter.org.uk/get_involved/participate/running/virgin_london_marathon 90,000 children in Britain will be homeless this Christmas. We’ll stop when it’s zero.

this is the link to log in and pay.

I'm guessing if you don't actually have a place it won't let you log in and pay?

I did get a congratulations email today as well though, so I would have thought if you haven't heard by email today, it's probably a no :(

Back do you know anyone who has got in? If so, you need to get the payment link from them, and see if it will accept your email address and password....

I'm still waiting, but I've moved since I applied and they can't tell me over the phone or change my address until Monday, so I'm still nervous over here!

Thanks for clearing that up, ibby

I've chosen my Charity, and as part of the package they offer I've got a place at the Silverstone half in March next year.

Saying that, I've not so much as touched my trainers since parkrun on Saturday. I've had an horrendous cold, that is now on my chest. I really felt 'the urge' to get out on Tuesday, but the weather was so awful, I decided against it.

has everyone else heard yet?

There is choice, when entering the ballot, of paying there and then, or deferring payment until you get a place. If you pay at time of entering ballot, you don't get that payment refunded, if you don't subsequently get chosen.

I paid at the time I entered the ballot, wasn't aware of any further charge Confused

If it's ballot place Hey, it's up to you what charity you run for.

I thought you had to log on to website to pay? (address in letter with You're In mag), rather than they chase you via email..?

HeySoulSister · 08/10/2014 19:20

Anyone had their email to pay yet?

Yes you can run for any charity, a good opportunity to raise money for smaller local charities that may not get a silver or gold bond place.

HeySoulSister · 07/10/2014 18:29

Can you run for any charity or does it have to be vlm approved?

I looked at the MS society online, and apparently even if you have a ballot place, you have to raise a minimum of £2k to run for them! Shock Won't be doing that then!

I got a no but will be entering another ballot in my running club to get the one and only club place. Much better odds in this one I think!

i spoke to my son's physio briefly who just advised rest.

I did go out this morning just for half hour and I was relived it was easy enough to run, just my pita leg! I think all the cycling and swimming has kept up my fitness. Icing it and ibuprofen now. Def a lot better - more of a niggle than the pain I got when I tried to run a few weeks ago.

I'm thinking about the MS society - MIL has severe MS. Though my dad may ask me to run for the daycare centre for adults with learning disabilities that he works for.

congrats to everyone else who got in, and commiserations to those who didn't x

Congratulations, Chopstheduck! Really hope you can get over the injury….have you seen a physio?

Report
JennyOnTheBlocks · 05/10/2014 08:12

Muscle memory will come into play, Chops, have you seen a physio about your injury or just let it heal by rest?

I did parkrun yesterday, didn't push myself at all, a very slow jog with a little walking but surprised at how great it felt, and wasn't the last home, despite my best efforts Grin

And I've got a head cold

I've worked out my training plan now, still carrying too much weight and core is shot after surgery, so the next month is about weight loss and 5k jogs 3/4 times a week, then the big plan kicks in.

Has anyone decided about charities yet?

I got a yes!

When I applied I was very comfortably running 10k every weekend and up to 10 miles. Then I got some sort of tendon issues in my left ankle and have barely run for the past 6 weeks!!

I have been cycling and swimming though - was planning triathlons next year. Applied for the RideLondon 100 too, thinking I would never get a marathon place!

I'm glad you're all saying you were relieved about getting your rejection mags, I certainly was!

I'm running my first 10k tomorrow and am in a state about that so god knows why I even entered the ballot! I would have done it though Smile
