Thanks popsy! My ds is worried he won't finish the reading tomorrow. His comprehension is very good but because he gives really in depth answers he sometimes struggles with the timescale.

dogwalker · 11/05/2004 21:29

MS and Popsy - my son came home with his planning sheet from todays tests and it shows his bullet points. He's written 5 bullet points on it, three of them echo the points that had already been made in the speech bubbles. It all seems quite immature but I don't really know what is expected from this type of thing. He says he wrote quite a lot but I don't know what about if the planning sheet is anything to go by! Poor lad, I think writing a story would have been a better thing for him. this in my opinion was one of the hardest things he could have come up against.

charlize · 11/05/2004 21:29

Do you think ds teacher will have looked at the completed tests today?

dogwalker · 11/05/2004 21:31

I don't think the teachers get chance do they? Apparently ours went straight to the postman.

popsycal · 11/05/2004 21:31

Charlize - offically schools are not allowed to look at completeed tests....

advice tfor r4eading booklet - whizz thriough the first 2 pages.....
when it gets to 15 mins left - skim through and answer those that you can do quickly first

on the 3 point question thiknk of PEE
make you POINT, give your EVIDENCE then EXPLAIN you evindence!

Dogwalker don't worry sounds like all the kids are in the same boat with this one. You have much better luck than me in getting info out of ds. Mine just rolls his eyes and grunts something about can't remember when I ask him what he wrote.
He did say that one of his points was that the pupils wouldn't be able to have lunch till after 1.30 every day when school finished?????
And tgat this was too late?
But like you I have no idea what sort of stuff they are looking for.

popsycal · 11/05/2004 21:35

in my opinion...they were looking for a formal persuasive/argument piece of writint

i will nto see the markng scheme til july so dont know but that is my opinion

Mine was most disgusted, I think, at the idea of doing exercise before lessons every day (everybody would be too tired, having just got up, apparently )

dogwalker · 11/05/2004 21:36

Charlize - did you get the planning sheet or do you want to know morea bout it?

charlize · 11/05/2004 21:36

Popsy what would we do without you I will drill pee into Ds brain on the way to school in the morning.

charlize · 11/05/2004 21:37

Hi dogwalker ,no I didn't get the planning sheet and would love to know more

dogwalker · 11/05/2004 21:37

LOL JanH, this is also what my son has put.

dogwalker · 11/05/2004 21:39

OK Charlize, in brief it says:
Time for a Change?
Your shcool is thinking about making some changes to the school day. This is an outline of the new timetable which might be introduced;
7 am Reg and assembly
7.20 am Exercise session
8.0 am Breakfast
8.30 am lessons
12.30 pm sport or homework club
1.30 pm school closes
Your task is to write down what you will say about this new timetable in the assembly.

(and then they had to write some brief bullet points)

charlize · 11/05/2004 21:41

Just asked ds if he mentioned the excersise before lessons . he says he didn't because he thinks its a good idea???

dogwalker · 11/05/2004 21:41

My sons bullet points were (bless)

. some people can't get up very early so they won't concentrate in class
. the tought of having all the lessons in the morning, isn't it too much in one go
. where's the lunch on the timetable or do we eat lunch when we gt home
. NO I don't think it's a good idea
. instead of registration first why not do exercise first to get the pupils woken up properly

(but three of these echoed some that were shown on the first page). Sorry long post.

popsycal · 11/05/2004 21:42

popsycal · 11/05/2004 21:44

charlize · 11/05/2004 21:44
