I'm always mildly suspicious of people who have to put "genuine" or "authentic" in the title. Always makes me think it's anything but.

And £5 P&P for a shirt??!!

hi i would never never never buy anything and and pay by cheque as ebay doesn't cover for more thans £100
i bought a psp of a seller with good feedback (98%) at the beginning of last year, afetr four weeks i still hadn't received it so asked where it was no response to any of my emails util i reported her to paypal and i got my money back, but otherwise i wouldn't have

also you need to be really careful with designer stuff , i have bought a few suspect items (it's so hard to tell who is genuine and who isn't, especially if it comes from hong kong!)

ps - i wanted to buy a designer bag once (a Dior) seller would only accept cheques - so i asked if i could pay cash and collect - guess what ? - she never replied - sure sign of a fraud

NO DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARGE POLE
Sorry for shouting, but got stuffed buying something for around £270 off a seller (not even a new seller) who said he would only take cheques and guess what ? the item was non-existent and when i reported to the police it turned out the same seller stolen from from several others and was on the run -
the bastard - i eventually got £100 back from paypal as compensation for fraud, but still lost over £170

and i consider my self a street-wise lawyer - was very very angry esp. as police fart arsed around for over a year before approaching him and by then he had moved !

I would also want to see a receipt from somewhere like Selfridges and I would expect it to be full price. Please don't get ripped off!

Hi Minko

I would be very very careful. The Annie is a beautiful bag but the RRP is £595 - see Mulberry website. It is a brand new range, there is no way anyone with a genuine one would sell it for £200. Sorry. Mulberry bags are an investment and the seller sounds like a con artist to me

For that sort of money I would collect and pay cash

I'd go for one of the other sellers- both have decent feedback.

i'll pay by cheque for something, quite happily.

I just wouldn't do it for a high priced good.

I can def see point in going the cheque route for £200 cos the paypal fees on that would be massive.

and I have a dp who absolutely refuses to let me do bank transfers.

hmm. dunno what I'd do there really...

no people will send cheques for lower priced things, don't worry!

Report
LIZS · 21/01/2007 13:28

So would that mean I'm unlikely to get any buyers if I don't use paypal, or would people still send cheques for lower priced goods ?

jabberwocky · 21/01/2007 13:20

No!!

The only bad experiences as a buyer I've had has been paying by cheque. I will not now bid on anything where they request payment by cheque/postal order. I think Paypal at least offers you some protection against fraudulent sellers.

no

Report
goblinqueen · 21/01/2007 12:43

No I wouldn't. I only buy from sellers using Paypal, for protection... and who can be bothered waiting till a cheque clears!

would actually be more worried if it were a company, tena, I think!

dunno why though

had very unpleasant experience with MrCraftyUK (I think...something like that)...sold duff wool...

TenaLady · 21/01/2007 12:30

Hmm, not sure I would unless it was a company rather than an individual.
