Buyer selling on item with my photos and description

Came across something I had sold a few weeks back being sold on by the buyer. Obviously not a problem at all, I always sell on things that are not suitable. What has really annoyed me is that she has used my exact photos and description word for word. I have had buyers do this previously and know that it is against eBay policy.
So, I contacted her and she apologised, said she didn't think it would be a problem, has no camera at the mo and would take down the photos and put her own description. Except she now can't as she has a bid on it. Told her only way she can sort it is stop listing and start again with her own info. She wants to know if I am really being serious, why does it bother me, they are no longer of use to me.

Hmm I'm not sure now if I'm being a bit ott, she is right in one way, but it is the fact that I spent the time and effort sorting the shoes, taking photos and listing them and I think it is bloody cheeky that she takes advantage of that.

What do you think I should do?

It's very cheeky. You've put the effort in. Some people are saying it hardly takes anytime to describe and do the photos. In that case it wouldn't take the buyer long to list the item themselves.

I think it's a bit extreme to report them to ebay for this but I'd block them from buying from you again. They should have asked permission or apologized for not asking when you brought it up.

It might not sound like a big deal but it's just rude.

It's definitely cheeky, but I wouldn't care too much about it. Only if that buyer bought repeatedly from you and did it again and again would I start to care. A one-off item - it's no great shakes.

medhand I don't usually have any idea what happens to items after they have been bought. However, I was searching for a similar item as they don't come on eBay that often so I am always on the look out.

It is one of those things where if everyone did it, it would be an utter disaster. The buyer is being arrogant to think she has the right to do it, because she is a bit more special than everyone else.

For the life of me I can't see how getting the person selling the item on to rewrite their listing would affect the amount of work you did?

Taking decent photos and measuring clothing then listing carefully with a good description does take a long time. OP is not being unreasonable to be a bit peeved. Other person should have asked permission which in that instance OP would probably have agreed to. My DD is a good artist and has had people copy pictures of her work and claim them as their own. I stand by my view it is plain courteous to ask before using other ebayer's listings and as a rule should not be anyone's standard practice.
I would probably not bother reporting this incidence as OP stands risk of bad feedback but she also has the right to have a moan.

I would be pissed off, thats why I watermark all my photos.

Before I watermarked everything, someone on etsy copied one of my photos and listed the same item, I emailed them asking them to remove my photograph from their listing as I owned the intellectual copyright of said photo and in future to take the time to photograph their own stock.

I also know of someone else this happened to and when she contacted the other person was told the photo had been taken off google images and anything on their was free to everybody else!

depends if you are buying high end items really, personally I am trying to find a way out of ebay, but it still raises the best prices, if someone wants to chance their arm with my photos, my descriptions, good luck to them, me I am just glad a) the item sold for the price I wanted (I never list at 99p) and b) the buyer just resold and didnt make a spurious paypal claim/ebay dispute and get a refund as so many are want to do

Also I have better things to do than check after my items have sold what has happened to them

I've been ebaying for years too, and I have a problem buying in that way. But each to their own...I like a bit more than a mono-sentence description

So the OP gets to go to the trouble of writing a detailed listing, taking photos, uploading all this guff (and it takes forever at the moment and I keep having to load pictures about 5 times before they work) and then the buyer gets to copy all that just for the purposes of saving herself a bit of time?

shall we all use ONE person's listings to copy in future? That would save everyone time!

How about all the shops lift their copy from one single source too? And pictures, and feck it, how about they all use the same fonts and signage as well, and the same website, oh hold on, now we are in soviet Russia before 1987.

Hi. I am also an eBay Business Seller (although not actually selling at the moment for various reasons). I would probably be annoyed TBH. I don't think I would actually go as far as contacting the person to remove their listing though, as I fail to see how that could benefit me in the long run.

I would be pissed off though. Whether that is a reasonable response or not!

I can't imagine why you care. I used the sellers pictures once when I bought a dress that looked shit. Then my photos were also shit for some reason. What possible impact could it have on you?
