Has anyone else had a cry in their kitchen this week?

Just feeling so alone, really.

Our mortgage runs out next September, my job has changed and I get £500 less a month and I just feel like everything is spiralling.

I shouted at my kids this morning for being so slow at getting their bikes out for school - this time last year we still had a car and could afford to drive. Everything has just become awful and I don't know what to do. Hence crying in my kitchen for a bit.

The thing is, we were quite comfortable before and this has all been quite sudden. How desperate must things be for people who are already struggling.

rural, needs doing up and no interest -eats money as v.old and no central heating 😐

Pisser. Good luck.
If you’re not too old, you’ll recover.
Consider looking into bankruptcy if it’s insurmountable.
I guess the lack of central heating means the local council or housing assoc won’t take it?

I've has several crys this week, but that's more to do with my Mum no longer recognising my dDad in their wedding photos.
Can you look at extending the mortgage term to keep payments manageable? I've been where you are in the 1990s where banks just wholesale repossed. We got out by saving up to pay off the negative equity and walk away. At least I think banks now see that as a last resort.
It absolutely sucks though.

I haven't cried but beeb worried all week.
Im lucky I have a new job thats paid weekly which is really helping right now.
But I have use afterschool club and holiday club which is still a expense.
Also my teenagers school bus fare just increased.
Mayor is bringing in clean air zone nov we can't afford replace car do ,£9 enter city centre where hospitals and one of my child's school is.
I can't afford resit my test and get a 2nd car I had hoped that be possible in 2023.

I'm having to save some wages because of covid lockdowns husbands commission non essential retail sales for the year 2021 to 2022 means exceeded 50k gross child benefit limit so as soon as do tax return jan I will owe some child benefit back.
We had huge tax bill this year too which HMRC wouldn't agree on repayment plan so ended up paying that in the credit card so working hard right now to pay off credit card debt.

Husband company making changes to commission and overtime in jan which means a pay cut but if we in recession non essential retail sales will fall anyway less sales = less income.

We just can't seem to catch a break this year we had no holiday.

Really struggling control food budget now I'm working less time to shop around which is what's needed right now as big rises in tesco/ morrisions and aldi.
Decent reductions are rare.

Then we get to the mortgage 14 months left to 5 year fixed is up.
2.44% £858 per month if rose to 6/7% it rise to around £1500 per month!
If we have to husband may need get 2nd job.
Tried selling things but not many buyers.
God knows what cost it will be by next December.

Also concerned about husband pension.
Hes not long turned 50 and they said he could withdraw a very old work pension now so we opt monthly amount or lump sum pay loads tax and get out of the market on that specific work pension.
I have new works pension but wondering if we need private considering pension market might collapse.
Once credit card cleared want to build up emergency savings and over pay mortgage. Although not sure manage to do all this in 14months.

Stockpiling foof has helped me feel a bit calmer if we have tight month my pantry and freezers will see us through.
We eating a lot more pasta these days and less meat.
