Kemi Badencoch and cultural christianity-leaving Christianity

Hi everyone, I might be late to this, but I saw this case about a woman who was greatly harmed by her faither for about 20 years. Kemi in this post said that she left her faith over this as the final catalyst. I started to think and try pull to answers together we may come up with why God allow's suffering such as this to help others deal with great suffering.
I will link to the article and a very old thread some from decade ago of others which still hold good.

I a felt sense to post this thread. I read a article about an MP called Kemi Badenoch in the UK that was about their faith. They said that they had lost their faith in Christianity because of a case in the media on Elizabeth Fritzl which proved to be final catalyst for them leaving the faith to adopt Christian values. The article wrote that God didn’t intervene in a case over 20 years. On reading this I felt that we will never know how God may have been involved. The Christian faith does not work on giving messages to strangers to others to resolve cases of crime. In this case the mother didn’t know that their child was in captive. I will say here, we failed as a community in this case to help Elizabeth earlier. We do not know if God through their spirit tried to give Elizabeth instincts to help them to escape earlier and they didn’t respond then.
The father exhibited evil behaviour whether he was mentally ill or just evil himself and this is not the fault of God, but of sin, man or evil. God calls us to be obedient and Christ is the only perfect one and we are to imitate him (2 Thessalonians 3:7-12). People have their own will and choices and may choose to behave in abominable manner (1 Corinthians 6:9)God has a perfect will for us and evil leads to corruption and a rejection of God. God can and does respond, in sometimes unknowing to us, he always listen and sometimes his response isn’t a worldly one.
Trauma too is complicated, it can have a paralysing effect on the body leading into inaction and this is when we need to step in and help. Being lost and afraid and still in a youth’s mind as a adult, they are vulnerable
Being a Christian doesn’t mean that things will always be easy, but Jesus gives us his Holy Spirit the Comforter to make things easier which is his promise us. God doesn’t give people what overwhelms them and if this happens he will provide a way out and we have to be ready to hear it. This is truth. ( 1 Corinthians 10:13), which promises that God will not allow believers to be tempted beyond their ability to endure, and will always provide a way to escape the temptation. We have to trust him and not have to actually to try and work out all his actions, but just trust as the Book of Proverbs say (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Natural disasters are a part of the world and we know with the end times that will have affliction to, but we need to hold on as Christians for the promise of eternal life.
There is something to called God’s perfect timing for a person and it is an individual thing for each person.
Sometimes in great cases of abuse, they may allow someone to die and justice will be given. Restoring some peoples abused body whole may be against the will of God. He answers prayers those of those are of his will. He has given to me and witness of many other who have their testimony’s.
I wanted to post these views of Christians on their views why evil and bad things can happen in the world, but God always prevails. I am still looking into this case and the failings of it.

God is always righteous.
Some of the bad events listed it is not God who caused these things to happen. It is man and their own disobedience and sin who have caused many of these actions. Some of this is down to colonialism and corruption too as you well know. Natural disasters are a part of this world too and this world has been abused by humans. God asked us to be care takers of the world and we have failed at this.

God instructs us to follow his law.

People need to pray to God for their family. This protection you cannot expect it to extend to those who do not worship him, although he is the creator of all.

Still, traumatic things can happen and God I think will give them grace and put them under his wing. They will never be left alone and taken care of. They will be so pure and will likely see God in my opinion.

Kemi Badencoch and cultural christianity-leaving Christianity - Despite what she called a rejection of God, Badenoch emphasised that she has not rejected Christianity altogether. “I remain a cultural Christian,” she explained

Kemi, like a lot of people may call themselves a ‘cultural christian ‘ - there is no such thing. Our culture may be based on Christian values, but does not make it Christian. I cannot remember the saying, but there is something about just because you sit in a garage, it does not mean you are a car.

There is nothing new under the sun; we live in a fallen world. Kemi may sugar coat what has happened by her assertion that she has not rejected ‘Christianity’ - that is neither here nor there. She has, by her own words, rejected God. Lots of people do. Her walk is her own, and between her and the Lord God Almighty, whom she has chosen to reject. I am pleased though, as a politician’ she is holding on to Christian principles - hopefully, acting with integrity.

To be a Christian is not ‘cultural’ - to be a Christian means you love the Lord God Almighty with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul, through being a disciple of Christ Jesus.

Folk may enjoy some of the culture around Christianity - giving gifts at Christmas or enjoying singing the Carols; giving chocolate eggs at Easter, etc … it does not mean they are Christian. Even some people of other religions enjoy it.

There is evil and wickedness in the world. Christians know the reason for it. There are many reasons why it may appear that God does not answer prayer in the way we want and in our timing … some things just have to be left in the box on the shelf labelled ‘why?’ For those of us who love Him, he does not promise an easy ride, but He does promise a soft landing: eternal life with Him, where there is no more pain and no more tears. 🙏

That was a very good reply Thegreatestoftheseislove, I found this about how someone's sprit of God helped them to deal with abuse.
I found this to-

Autumn Miles spirit of God told her when being abused she wrote in her own testimony of her life to find a way out . We do not know what happened inside or what was happening with Elizabeth. There was an old law in Leviticus not to have incest. I must state although this was not Elizabeth’s fault-it may have been a barrier for intervention from God the possibility and this I do not know. You need to repent sometimes and cease an activity for God to manifest.

“I felt bitter and angry about what had happened for a long time. One night I prayed: “I’m so over being mad at something that I’ll never get an apology for. How do I move forward without it?” The Lord took me through a long process of forgiveness. I didn’t truly come to Christ until I lost everything

After seven years, I was completely numb. I remember being awake at 3am one morning and feeling mentally messed up. I started thinking: What is the easiest way out? I was having this conversation with myself: I don’t want to die. But I can’t live like this.

In that moment, the Spirit of God said: “Do you remember me?” I knew it was the Lord. When the creator speaks to the created, their soul stands to attention. I knew he was referencing my childhood. I said: “Yes, I remember you, but if you’re so real, how could you let this happen to me?” Then I said: “If you’re actually real, you’ve got to speak now. You’ve got to show me.”
I saw a Bible in the corner of the room. I flipped it open on Psalm 91:16: “With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Nobody knew I was contemplating suicide, but God did. Psalm 91 saved my life that night. It was my moment of conversion. I literally fell on the floor and asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me.

It was not instantaneous; it took a year of me saying: “No, you can’t hurt me any more. I forgive you. I’m choosing not to hold this against you any more, because I’ve got a future. God has a plan for my life.” I don’t think I could have healed from the hurt without the power of the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Very powerful post

I believe God must have reasons for allowing evil. However, I don't understand what you mean about incest. As you sat yourself, it's not as if Elizabeth consented, she was abused and imprisoned.

Carla786 it is mentioned about incest in Leviticus 18:6-26. I don't know, but I was just looking at possible things missed. It was not Elizabeth's fault I agree.. Jesus is very kind and forgiving and it was not Elizabeth's fault. I was just aware of it and for interventions myself I have to give up things to show commitment to God like we can do at Lent. Who knows for sure, I just found it interesting. It sounds extremly difficult.

I ended up writing this on that section-There is a law in Leviticus not to partake in incest (Leviticus 18:6-26). I must state although this was not Elizabeth’s fault and was her lived reality and God loved her to-it may have been a barrier for intervention from God along this timeline this possibility and this I do not know, but it is thought. This is a case to of unequal domination over another which the Bible to does not support (Galatians 3:28)
