Comfy padded booster (not high backed) for long journey across France

We are driving to S of France next month and our 140cm ds aged 9 will need a seat. He has a Britax Adventure but this is not very well padded or comfy (and as high back obscures the view somewhat but is safer)

Any recs for a relatively cheap but comfy booster seat? or is he best off just sucking up the being uncomfy (we'll be driving no more than 2hours without a break as 3 dcs and DH gets cramp!) for the big drives as it is so much safer

TIA

My DC is a little younger at nearly 8 and 128cm and I have ummmed and errrred over whether to insist on her being in a HBB for our trip to France and have decided that I am indeed going to insist.

She is still in her Maxi cosi Rodi.

I don't know how much space you have in the car but dd1 has a joie trillo and she reckons that's really comfy. I'm not sure if you can use it as a no back booster but it definitely comes apart. We also have an adventure which is not popular as amongst the dcs but is most often the one that fits in with the other two seats.
