washing machine

Do any other caravanners or campers have a portable washing machine?

What are they like?

Two dc and one on its way I feel like I need another four days to get on top of the mountains of washing! I was wondering if taking a portable one would cut down on my washing and mean we can take less!

I would love to clear my washing before we go but I am domestically challenged!

We also have a large capacity machine.

Perhaps I should look on the house keeping threads for keeping on top of mountains of washing.

Also if you clear the laundry before you go it's OK just doing the holiday stuff on return. I'm struggling this week as we left a mountain before we even left!

Just wear the same stuff every day ;-)

Seriously there is no way I would pack a washing machine but I might use one on a camp site if it was there. Nobody comes to any harm wearing grubby clothes on a camping holiday though.

Same as EE. We do all our washing on a,monday so we don't notice if we are away for a week or weekend. And tend to research clothes way more camping too, so it doesn't matter if they are a bit grubby.

Oh and it had to fit in a tiny space the other had come out of (less than 30 inches) but apparently new tech means bigger drums in smaller machines. It's honestly magic!!

How big is your washing machine at home? I was drawing under washing with 3 under 5 and 2 adults, but then my machine died!
I rushed out to argos and bought the only one they had ready to take away and it's changed my life!!
My old one was about a 4-5kg drum, bought it when there was just 2 of us. My new one is an 8kg drum!! Takes so much more and clears my baskets in 3-4 loads (5 if I strip the beds too!) I now have a washing day (OK, 2 a week, but better than all day every day) and am over the moon.
I'd definitley recommended looking at a bigger drum rather than a portable one

Every campsite has a washing machine.

How long are you going for? We are taking 3 littlies this summer for 2 weeks. We def have 1 week of clothes so will jut do one wash over there. And one of nappies.

And I agree- part of going away is no washing, but at the same time the amount of washing I have now fills me with dread Confused

I'm not sure we'd get a washing machine in!
We have stayed on several sites with a machine and tumble dryer, which is useful. I don't think I'd want to camp next to someone who had their laundry strung everywhere...isn't a holiday about avoiding that?
