yep we had that for a while - also went through fads where one or two fo the foods were his favourites and the only ones he would eat.

It is really worrying. It's what makes me so relaxed with ds now, cos he is eating everyday it doesn't matter whether he misses a meal or two.

Do you find you get quite an aggressive reaction from people? I used to basically get told I was an awful mother, that I was stupid and couldn't be trusted to bring up a kid, that I was lying (wtf?) about his eating as no child could be that bad etc etc etc.

It really hurt at a time when I was so worried about him. When I look back to when he was 9months - nearly 2, practically the only memories I have is of the food issues.

armadillo - yes i took him shopping and let him choose exactly what he wanted to put in his basket, my theory if he liked the look of it, he might eat it. Thats where smiley faces came from, but that was the only success!!

Preparing and cooking, he will do all day long, just wont eat it.

Topic this term at nursery - food wont touch any of it.

Im very laid back about eating, my other 2 boys, eat anything and everything. He sits at the table as good as gold when we all eat, just doesnt eat anything though.

yeah we get that as well - he will sit happily at a table with everyone for dinner, enjoying himself, but will not eat. No screaming/shouting etc but just not eating.

He loves buying/preparing/investigating food but not eating it.

Drives me up the wall somedays.

armadillo - comments like if he lived with me i would soon sort that out. Its my cooking then lol. If i were you i would be really worried, i would insist on something being done (like i havent already).

In one ear and out the other, i dont take it personally

ive tried stickers, he is not interested. Getting him to eat the foods he does eat, is an up hill struggle.

I have to turn it into a game, to get him to take a bite of a smiley face or a chip. ie bet you couldnt eat an eye etc, oh your not going to eat that are you, timer see if you can eat a chip before the timer beeps, etc, etc.

He just doesnt seem to get hungry.

lol

one of my friends is a terrible eater. Until recently she would only eat chicken and potatoes. Her mum used to cook her seperate xmas dinner, well most dinners to be fair.

In my smug pre-ds days I said no child of mine would be that bad, they would just 'have' to eat it.

Karma is a bitch.

lol @ baked beans!

The funniest thing about my parents is that my dad is THE FUSSIEST EATER I KNOW - far worse than ds1 - I remind myself of this when they are critical of me for ds1's eating!

ds has started noticing hunger recently - he will ask for food which is a big thing. He won't care if you give it to him or not, but it's progress.

I once remember not giving him dinner to see if he would notice when he was younger.

He didn't. I cried

ROFL at it now though - what was I thinking?

My younger brother ate only sausages and weetabix as a child. He's 6'3", very fit and sporty, built like a brick s*house and is now VERY into food. Likes cooking, tries anything. But it really took until his twenties before he got adventurous!

This thread has really put my DT's eating in perspective, I get very wound up leading up to a weekend when i know i got to cook for them (they at nursrey full time and eat perfectly there).

I thought they were horrendous eaters but it appears not, they try most things but its the volume of what they eat that worries me....scared silly i was starving them, but i think i'll just take a deep breath and let them get on with it - they are 2.8 btw.....

have any of you with the fussy's tried eggy bread? mine love it.....
