AIBU?

To think that a 14 year old boy does not need to see a paediatrician for a jab?

Bloody hell. DSS1's mother took him to the family paediatrician for a routine jab. Said paediatrician asked DSS1 how much pocket money he got - and, on hearing the reply, said that it was 1/4 of the amount a boy of his age should be getting. DSS1 got very upset because he felt patronised - but he shouldn't have been there in the first place!

DD never hits anyone, ever - the doctor was a first. DSS1 hardly ever cries.

I can understand that a doctor may have awful bedside manners - heaven knows I've met a few of them

what I cannot understand is a teenager who makes an issue of having to attend a clinic full of babies (or an aunt who seems to agree this is something to get upset about)

can anyone tell me why this is significant?

when dd goes to the doctor's it's to get medical treatment

doesn't matter one bit whether all the other patients are babies or geriatrics

(we've had experience of both)

it's just a jab for goodness sake

something simple and basic and practical

I'm a little confused aswell. If in France they don't see paeds after a certain age then why did DSS1's mum take him to one for his jabs?

I am astounded that you think it's acceptable for a child to hit a doctor (well anyone really) however patronising he is.

If he incites such negativity in your family then may I suggest you find a different paediatrician?

Why did you have to see the paediatrcian then? And take to your bed afterwards? Was he rude about your pocket money?

Never mind, I probably don't need to know...
